@TrickzKamikaze @JWalker3444 Also Bumi is kind of an outlier here. All the other badass old people were in their 60s or 70s or sometimes 80s instead of 110 lol
English

A lot of people in this comment section are like "its because she's scared of toph" no, kuvira is not scaref of toph at all, but you do NOT attack an earth bending legend that invented the sub element YOU specialize in, that would be political suicide.
Darth Shinobi@christ621ml
Why didn't Kuvira attack during this scene? She had the numbers 🤷🏼♂️
English

@superduy975 @lilant232 @TrickzKamikaze @emmaxtob Yeah that's because Korra has a lot of writing issues. Regardless, in the very scene the original tweet is talking about, she uses a single move and wipes out a bunch of kuviras men who were giving the squad trouble. She still no diffs them and they literally show us
English

@JWalker3444 @lilant232 @TrickzKamikaze @emmaxtob did you even watched the show? when she was training korra she made a comment after korra said “you threw me around like a rag doll” and she said back “i know! and im an old lady, imagine me in my prime” so yes she’s not as strong as she used to be and was weaker since her prime
English

@lilant232 @TrickzKamikaze @emmaxtob The mech isn't even a mech there, it's a train. Which she could easily knock over the car with the gun on it the same way bumi knocked over the statue. There are also multiple extremely talented earthbenders with her to do literally anything to support her
English

@JWalker3444 @TrickzKamikaze @emmaxtob The mech is part of the army. She ain’t beating that shi and hundreds of foot soldiers at the same time. No matter how hard you want to glaze.
English

@lilant232 @TrickzKamikaze @emmaxtob Dude they're all Nameless soldiers, we've seen the gaang sweep through hordes of "elite" earthbenders when they raided the earth kingdom palace. Toph was only 12 then. I highly doubt bumi was tossing buildings as casually as he did at 12 years old. She can only get stronger
English

@edmonds_aa57339 @TrickzKamikaze Acting like we're not talking about Toph mf Beifong here. She is the other exception
English

@JWalker3444 @TrickzKamikaze Bumi is the exception, not the standard.
English

@Riley_Miskell @hoodopulence The way they wrote her in season 2 was especially obnoxious compared to the rest of the show imo, that's all I'm saying
English

I still don’t understand why Korra gets more blame for this than the actual villain
Emmanuel@emmywayne64
Agree or Disagree: 95% of the hatred Korra gets would disappear if this never happened
English

@TrickzKamikaze @emmaxtob Toph would have no diffed that whole army the same way she did with Earth Rumble 6
English

@emmaxtob @JWalker3444 Thank you😭😭
English

@TrickzKamikaze Dude was tossing buildings off the cliffside with minimal effort
English

@JWalker3444 Bumi wasn't fighting literally giant spirit laser shooting mechs and very skilled earth/metal benders. Again context is important here
English

@TrickzKamikaze Bumi took back his entire city in 8 minutes when he was over 100
English

@IBananaShake @twiligh7s_ep @gabriel_onche @ImmortalAvatar2 @naMnaSYt "if it's not from earth it's not really earth is it?" or whatever the quote was when toph got to bend "space earth" in sokkas master
English

@twiligh7s_ep @gabriel_onche @ImmortalAvatar2 @naMnaSYt It's mostly rocks tho, not really earth
Also, do you think earth, as in soil, is named earth because the planet is named earth?
Pretty sure we discovered earth, as in soil, before we discovered the concept of planets
English

"Only once every hundred years can a firebender experience this kinda of power."
So I guess this means that when Korra was in like her 30s, Sozin's Comet returned

now rewatching

it's so hilariously devious that 2 days ago aleks posted a video abt ppls complaints about him in voice acting which includes "he sounds the same in everything"
only for him to reveal the next day that he's been voicing invincible and no one noticed cus it doesnt sound like him

@SXR123 The A-10 strafe of pebbles is probably my favorite move in the final fight
English

Canonically, Aang didn't have easy access to the Avatar State during the original show because he didn't have mastery of the 4 elements, nor an understanding of how to easily tap into it.
Narratively, he didn't have easy access because of the sheer MAGNITUDE of power it comes with. It makes every conflict it a negligible and boring.
It wasn't just a simple power boost. It wasn't just "A guy who has mastered the 4 elements and is a little bit stronger when his eyes glow."
The Avatar State was set up as a sort of God state. The skills and power of 10,000 avatars coalescing into one. Seemingly effortless flight, moving continental landmasses and breaking mountains in two, torrential tsunami waves of water, jet streams of air capable of stripping rock. Firing rock pebbles like a concentrated hailstorm of bullets.
Bending not just the 4 elements with OVERWHELMING power, but with terrifying precision. Watch the fight with Ozai again and see that when Aang entered the Avatar State, Ozai was on the defensive from that point forward. He overpowered Ozai with strength and by NEGATING attacks fired back at him.
Example: Aang throws 5 enormous fireballs at Ozai. He dodges them and sends 3 of his own back, likely of equal power. Using a combination of air and water, tunnels through Ozai's attack and disperses it.
The Avatar State was set up to be revered and feared. It conveyed power that literally no Bender could match. The original show understood this which is why it had so much impact whenever it we saw it. In later series, the amount of power the State is portrayed as having is downplayed because otherwise you have no story.
Every conflict would end with, "And then he busted out the Avatar State and that was that."

namnas@naMnaSYt
no Avatar State before or since has had aura like this

@tifasclouds Jinora is a nepo baby Airbending master. I don't think she would have been able to deal with what aang dealt with in terms of fights
English

I love jinora but she was not the best airbender 💀
Avatar Daily@anime_daily
I like how no one is even arguing about Toph being the best earth bender, she's phenomenal
English

@MAR_icon_ela That was one of Aaron Ehasz big additions to the show, changing Toph from the big burly guy she was supposed to be into the little blind girl
English

OLAYIWOLA💫@olayiwolaide
She’s the GREATEST earth bender I’ve ever seen

@RoyCalbeck @AcedeLaForet @6c697374 Pushing red is nothing more or less than "I will live no matter what button everyone else presses" it's simple self preservation, you know we're animals right? That is our most basic instinct
English

@AcedeLaForet @6c697374 Pushing Red is literally nothing more or less than saying "kill everyone who doesn't push Red" and having that actually happen if you're in the majority. Voting for murder has no benefit UNLESS you're in the majority.
And then it's still murder. Rationalize it all you want.
English

Just to clarify for people who seem to be upset about my "pushing Blue" AND being willing to argue the point instead of accepting Red as The Given Wisdom:
Pushing Blue is a vote not to kill anyone.
Pushing Red is a vote to kill anyone who doesn't press Red.
The entire argument for pressing Red, to date has been "but what if I press Blue and most people press Red? It's only self-preservation".
Self-preservation alone is no justification, unless it's a GIVEN that you will die by pressing Blue. There is no "given" in the thought experiment on display, but proponents for pushing Red act like there is.
Instead, to conclude that Red is the right and proper decision, one has to believe that there is a realistic chance that at least half of humanity is psychotic enough to kill everyone else just to save themselves.
Let us apply that to a real-world situation: if you are drafted into military service, and there is a 100% chance you can escape and never be caught IF you murder the guy who shows up at your door to serve your papers, do you murder them merely because there is a "non-zero chance" you might die in the war you've been drafted into?
Pressing Blue is the only moral choice. Pressing Red would have me trying to explain before God that I thought it was justified to vote in favor of mass-murder on the SLIGHTEST of possibilities that I would be murdered if I didn't.
If you REALLY think this is what you want to terminate your relationship with me over, as one person has already done, there is the door, and I will thank you for dragging your thin skin after you as you depart.
English

@Jack_Lauer_ @TexanJacobite Well that's not true, if you hit red, you live no matter what button is pressed. Therefore it makes sense to hit the button that doesn't have a chance to kill yourself. Zero percent chance of yourself dying by pressing red, zero 0%
English

@TexanJacobite No, because Blue is clearly winning. No "if" needed.
Also, I didn't have to trust anyone. I knew blue would win before I even voted blue.
English

Performative altruism is a huge problem.
The correct answer to this poll is red. If you answer red, you live. Everyone should thus answer red, and everyone lives. There is zero reason for a single person to press blue, if every person is saved by pressing red, and a blue vote is a toss up if you get killed or not.
But people who want to feel morally superior about themselves are choosing the answer they see as altruistic, even though it is objectively incorrect and will get them and others killed.
Translate this to the real world and things like criminal justice. Morons allow the axe murderer free, because they want to feel merciful. “Look at me, aren’t I just so magnanimous!”
vittorio@IterIntellectus
why would anyone even press blue?!?
English

@shreddy_kruger @lord_hyniron @MattisRedacted @theblessedsalt I don't care who is responsible, but if they're trying to harm someone or their property, then yes that harm should be redirected into themselves
English

@lord_hyniron @MattisRedacted @theblessedsalt Nothing you said explains why you'd rather hurt this person than just ward them off. And the reason for that is because you want to be justified in hurting someone, or at least be responsible for them hurting themselves.
English

This post is an excellent litmus test for understanding of just war theory.
Despite the fact that I can see how effective this would be, I must oppose it because the damage it would do to my enemy (who bashes in my mailbox) would far outweigh the good of saving my mailbox. Its disproportionality is opposed by our duty in charity (and even justice) to watch out even for the good of our enemies.
(Yes, by the way, I have had my mailbox bashed in by random vandals.)
My moms caregiver@mymomcare
People who have lived in the country understand this!
English

@blackfullah @CipherEdge_ @emmywayne64 My reason for him being one of my suspects was him wanting to get all the viltrumites in one place to use the scourge virus
English

@CipherEdge_ @emmywayne64 It would’ve made no sense, there already was the reveal of him being a viltrumite. Him being a mole for the strongest empire would be boring.
English

@ZeldaZealot If katara can bend water she can't see, I don't see why toph couldn't
