“You don’t know how much this means to me.” Those words are heard often by the kids in our program… but they never get old. Because behind those words is a story. A story of someone who may not be able to do it themselves anymore. Someone on a fixed income, someone facing physical challenges, or someone who simply needed a helping hand. And in that moment, when a child finishes mowing their lawn, they’re not just cutting grass, they’re lifting a weight, restoring pride, and reminding that person they’re not alone. What’s powerful is that these kids may not fully understand the impact right away… but they feel it. They see it in the smile, in the gratitude, in the way that homeowner looks at them with appreciation that can’t be measured. And little by little, lawn by lawn, they begin to realize that what they’re doing matters, more than they ever imagined. That’s what the 50 Yard Challenge is all about. Not just mowing lawns… but changing lives, both the person receiving the help, and the child giving it. Making a difference, one lawn at a time.

@PrayTheRosary @VadeadIesum While I'm a big fan of the rosary and the church doesn't say you can't do it, I don't think praying the rosary during mass is the best way because you're not focusing on the Eucharist Always be present during the celebration of Mass and The Eucharist.

@VadeadIesum Joseph, I say this charitably... you need to be careful with the things you say on here with regards to what is and isn't church teaching. It is not church teaching that you must vocally participate at Mass and it is not church teaching that you can't pray the rosary during Mass

@Jeremyakee "running full clergy". Love the term. As a EME, I agree with you

Tonight is the last night before my initiation into the Catholic Church. At tonight’s service I decided to go up for a Communion blessing. Normally I don’t because I prefer not to get them from EMs but we were running full clergy so that was not an issue. On my side of the church was Fr. Miguel, who heard my first confession and with whom I am developing a friendship, and Deacon Tony, who ran the OCIA program and is a man I deeply admire and appreciate. The dream team, no bad options. As I got to the front I noticed I could choose from whom I received my blessing. It was only right that it be Deacon Tony so I took my place and kneeled. When he comes to me he blessed me by name and there was just a small catch in his voice. I had to hold back tears as I made my way back to my seat. It was such a perfect way to cap my catechumen period. I am going to record a couple of episodes for the podcast and will go into greater detail there. Thirteen years culminating tomorrow. Please in your kindness remember me in your prayers tomorrow evening.

@SEllisM @BillyHoag0311 The specific custom of hiding and hunting for eggs developed in Germany and is often linked to the Martin Luther. The excitement and joy of discovery of an egg was to mirror the experience of the women who first found Jesus' empty tomb and rejoiced that he had risen.

And by the way, though I am also not happy with the whole Easter Bunny, egg hunt thing, it greatly bothers me. Given how the Catholic church ha brought multiple pagan traditions into the Catholic church you may want to go easy there, splinter/ log you know? I have watched some of the Parades including completely pagan things going on in Catholic churches in Central and South America, also not cool.

@BillyHoag0311 Vous caricaturez. Je suis protestant, mais je sais bien que les catholiques sont invités à lire la Bible. La différence se fait surtout entre d’un côté la Bible seule, et de l’autre la Bible et les traditions de l’Eglise.

@theblessedsalt You kind of have to twist scripture into knots to deny the claim. It mentions brothers. It says “until” about relations between Mary and Joseph. It’s really quite simple until you get to 200 years after Jesus and people start talking about cousins and step-siblings.

When my husband had no work, I asked for prayer here on X and all of a sudden the whole company was slammed with a huge work load that will last quite some time. Please pray for Sky's husband to have the same happen!
Sky@SkyTheViking

My husband may be losing his job soon due to a lack of business. The phone just isn't ringing. Please pray for our little family. Pray that we trust in God and that my husband is guided to where he needs to be...whether that be a new/existing company or one he creates.

@GBNCOC I think the Roman Catholic Church took out the line from the Bible that says it's the soul authority...

My father has cancer. Stage four. The VA said maybe four months. He served three tours in Vietnam and came home to people spitting on him, calling him baby killer, telling him his service meant nothing. He never talked about the war. Never wore his medals. Never went to reunions. Just carried fifty-two years of shame for doing what his country asked him to do. Last month hospice started coming to the house and I realized I had no idea how to honor him, how to tell him his life mattered when he'd spent half a century believing it didn't. So I posted in a quilting group asking if anyone made military quilts, and a woman responded immediately. She'd found me through a shop where she runs a business making Quilts of Valor for dying veterans. She said “I'll start tonight.” She finished it in three weeks, worked around the clock because Dad's time is short. Every star is hand-stitched. Every stripe is perfectly aligned. She shipped it express and included a letter thanking him for his service, telling him that her father died alone believing nobody cared that he'd served. She said “Let your dad know the country was wrong. His service mattered. He matters.” We wrapped him in it yesterday. This photo is him seeing it for the first time. He cried for twenty minutes, kept touching the stars, kept saying “Someone made this for me?” I've started coordinating with other quilters now, connecting dying veterans with makers who can get quilts finished in time. Racing against cancer, against time, against fifty years of men dying before anyone told them thank you. Dad has maybe six weeks now. But he'll leave wrapped in stars. ⭐🇺🇸 By Angela mcnutt

Robot Dave heart update 🤖 Did an EKG & stress test today, throughout the stress test they saw 2 extra/early heartbeats (PVC) in a ten minute test, this is considered infrequent/very infrequent. Which is good, and I don’t feel them and have no symptoms. I’ll still have a follow up with my cardiologist, to be sure the EKG & week long sensor wearing didn’t show anything else, but with no symptoms, no family history, and 2 per 10 minutes in a stress test, it was luck that my regular doctor saw one on a 60 second EEG in December (a good thing though) I’ll let y’all know what else the cardiologist says in a couple weeks 🙏

Done and home in time for lunch 🤠 Which is good, because baby Alvin has his 4 month checkup this afternoon and I was hoping I could go with KB so I can ask the doc when he can start having ribeye 🥩- he seems ready to me 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️
