His name wasn’t changed. If you can’t even get that basic historical fact right nothing else you say carries any weight.

@NoFilterSkin His name wasn’t changed. Saul and Paul are the same name. Hebrew and Latin. This was common in the Roman world. Acts 13:9 even says: “Saul, who was also called Paul…” If you can’t get that basic understanding down, everything else you wrote is impugned.

@ouranometrian2 I was kickboxing and strength training 6 days a week until 2 weeks before my 3rd was born. I was also 40. I know some people have issues, but in general there is no reason to be inactive.

I still dont really get the "women cant possibly work when pregnant " discourse. At 30 + weeks its starting to kinda hurt being.on my feet and having to get up and down and guess what is required to look after the kids vs my desk job 😂

@skyfoil_exe @SpaceborneMedic Really? I’ve only attempted civil conversations that quote history a scripture and I cannot count the number of times I’ve been called a demon.

No one hates Catholics more than Protestants - not even Atheists. That is something I've learned and witnessed since becoming Catholic and it's not just an internet thing either.

Former Protestant here. My craving for Christ lead me to the Catholic church. Protestantism could not fulfill my desire for Christ but the Catholic church does.

Nineveh is explicitly conditional. Jonah 3:10 says God relented. Jeremiah 18 explains that principle. But D&C 114:1 No condition. No repentance clause. No later revelation saying God relented. He died before spring. That’s not conditional prophecy. That’s a failed one.

@debbaxara If they are conditional for the prophets of the Biblical era, then they work the exact same for Joseph Smith. You've only proven my point. Thank you and goodnight.

@natssauer Diaper bags are unnecessary. A backup set of clothes in the car and a pouch with diapers/wipes. I see moms out there packing like they are taking baby into the peace corps.

@StormPath1989 Nineveh is explicit. Jonah 3:10 says God relented. Jeremiah 18 explains why. Where does God say He relented regarding David W. Patten? D&C 114:1 contains no condition and no later revision.

In that same vein, a lot of prophets in the Bible are frauds. Not every prophecy came true. However, you have to understand that not all prophecies come true in the way we expect them to. At times, the world isn't ready for it. At times, we as a people are not properly prepared.
farfromwarm@debbaxara

@iWomansplainer Deuteronomy 18:21-22 If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord does not take place or come true, that is a message the Lord has not spoken. Deuteronomy 13:1-3 Even if signs occur, but the prophet leads wrongly, they are still false. Doctrine and Covenants 114

@StormPath1989 Biblical conditional prophecies are explicit. (Jonah 3:4-10 God relents) Joseph Smith’s prophecy about David W. Patten wasn’t. He said Patten would serve a mission “next spring.” Patten died before spring. That’s exactly the kind of failed prophecy Deuteronomy 18 warns about.

@debbaxara Oh so NOW you're okay with conditional prophecies when it comes to them, but not Joseph Smith? Yeah, sure, okay, Deb.

@StormPath1989 Nineveh absolutely fell in 612 BC. That’s well documented historically and archaeologically. Jonah’s warning was conditional, and Nahum later prophesied its final destruction. Tyre was destroyed in stages, exactly as Ezekiel described with “many nations” coming against it.

@debbaxara Except that Tyre was rebuilt, and that Neneveh didn't fall at all. Yet they were both prophets despite not being 100% correct. Are you suddenly tearing into your own faith now? 🤨

The inch is the width of my thumb. The foot is the length of my foot. The yard is the reach of my stride. The mile is 1000 left/right/left strides of me and my mates. The cup is a handful of something good. The pint is a satisfying drink, no more no less. The marathon is a distance a man can run. The pound is a loaf of bread that cooks just right. The world is what it is as defined by man. Not what it is as defined by base ten math. We measure the height of a horse with our hands, the proportions of a room according to what is pleasing to our eyes. It shocks and surprises me that the same people who invented the tatami no heya could ever become slaves to the metric system. Reclaim your souls Japanese Bros. Go ahead, use metric to measure your car parts. But stand tall that the distance from the mound to home plate is 60 feet 6 inches because anything shorter is too close and anything farther is too far away.

@StormPath1989 Scripture gives a clear test: if it doesn’t happen, the prophet is false. The Bible never excuses failed prophecy by saying “the world wasn’t ready.”

@StormPath1989 Scripture doesn’t allow failed prophets (Deut 18:22). What people call “failed prophecies” are conditional (like Nineveh) or fulfilled later (like Tyre). There are no demonstrable failed prophecies in the Bible.
