people who “hate Gen AI” may not realize that most filmmakers cannot afford a cinema camera, lens, 4x lights, and grip equipment to make a shot that looks 1/10 as good as a 10 cent Gen AI shot I’m a die hard live action cinematographer in my heart, but I know the math I’ve also worked in 3D/Games for a long time and it’s similar that most can’t afford the computer hardware and lack access to the training to make again shots that looks 1/100 as good as the sloppiest AI gen image Consumer and gamer takes on this issue, I ignore. People in production see the state of live action production AND in 3D/VFX business and can also do math

@mattworkman Im not going to prove myself to you because I don’t need to. You don’t need cinema quality cameras to get cinema looks and if you think that you’ve bought into every lie in the book. I mean ffs I set up this shot with a $30 camera, $2 in lamp fluid and a flashlight all practical

I can't prove it yet, but there's something really weird going on with Crimson Desert anties online lol I've seen skepticism that made sense, of course. I been on that train too, the whole "really? this game has all this stuff?" But I'll never understand shit like this. Literally just looks like a normal medieval-fantasy-landscape game. Visuals are current, too, no over-the-top stylization that may not land with some people, no "old gen" looking graphics either... But apparently now, to add to other weird criticisms, it's also ugly.

@LateNightHalo Art wise is was pretty great and idk where this “Starfield looked bad” mentality came from. Like characters I can get feeling tha way- but the environments and lighting have such a unique charm to them.

@SgtPepper901 @MikeWithAHotDog “Trying to be realistic” So there’s no ounce of stylization on this whatsoever? Not one? He’s in no way proportioned weirdly, nor is the environment any bit stylized around him in your mind Because they are.

@J_Lee_Design Min spec on starfield was a 1070. That's over a decade old tech. Their game engine clearly limited what designers could do. DLSS will correct that shortfall.

@Maracus57 On the hardware, I’m not sure where you’re getting “Aging” from as it…released on current gen hardware- and did quite well perf wise for the sheer scope of what that game was.

The character models snapped you right back out of any sort of immersion. The landscapes were so poorly lit that they were completely unbelievable. This cannot have been an artistic choice, but rather a limitation of developing for aging hardware. DLSS5 will fix this issue and allow artist more freedom, not less.
