Next week we will find out who really supports our Combat Wounded Men & Women.... Who is willing to actually give them the vote they so deserve! #MajorRichardStarAct #NoMoreDelays
David Warren | Veterans Policy@DavidWarrenVet

As early as May 18, members of Congress could begin formally signing onto the discharge process tied to H.Res. 1247. Now we’ll see who is willing to bring the #MajorRichardStarAct to the floor for a vote. 54,000 combat-injured veterans are still waiting.

I personally know a Marines Corp Veteran passage of this law will benefit. He tried to stay. His disability could have been easily accommodated in the job he was doing for the Marines. He has 18+ years under his belt and wanted to stay. He was forcefully retired. He loses out on about $2000 per month in retirement benefits. I fully support passage of this act. I also advocate calling your House Rep and Senators telling them you do as well. For convenience, the Switchboard number is 202-224-3121. All you need to do is ask for your House member by name, or if you don’t know it give your location. They will connect you. Anyone who reads this I implore you to RePost. Let’s make this happen. @mil_vet17 @DarinArmstrong @okhomebody @mcain1954 @SirFlyzalot @jawjaboy71 @AirMech1980

Next week, there are no more excuses. The discharge petition for the Major Richard Star Act opens, and every Member of Congress will be forced to make a choice. Sign it... or don't. This bill already has overwhelming bipartisan support. Hundreds of Representatives have co-sponsored it. Let's stop pretending this is complicated. If you support the bill, you sign the petition. If you don't sign it, you're part of the delay. Combat-wounded veterans have waited long enough. These are men and women who were injured in service to this country and are still being denied the full benefits they earned. Not because the support isn't there. Not because Congress doesn't know. But because action keeps getting delayed by political theater. Let's be very clear: This is not red vs. blue. This is right vs. wrong. Combat-wounded veterans are more important than party loyalty. Their sacrifice comes before politics. Now it's on us to hold them accountable. Call your Representative NOW. Ask them directly: Will you sign the discharge petition? If they say they support the Major Richard Star Act, there is only one acceptable answer. No more statements. No more co-sponsorship press releases. No more delays. Sign the petition. Force the vote. Give these veterans what they earned. #MajorRichardStarAct #NoMoreDelays

It’s a known fact nothing says "lunchtime fun" to kids quite like a impoverished Depression-era mountain family with a flat tire.

The fight for the Major Richard Star Act is entering a critical phase in both the House and Senate. In the House, H. Res. 1247 has officially been filed in the Rules Committee by Rep. Mark Takano and Rep. Raul Ruiz. This resolution would force consideration of the Major Richard Star Act (H.R. 2102) and bypass continued delays despite overwhelming bipartisan support. Under House rules, the resolution will sit in committee for 7 legislative days before Members can begin signing the discharge petition — expected around May 18th. Once the petition reaches 218 signatures, it forces a full up-or-down vote in the House within 7 legislative days. If passed, the resolution also requires the House Clerk to transmit the bill to the Senate within 3 calendar days, preventing further procedural delays. Even more significant — the full legislative text of H. Res. 1247 has now been released. This updated version of the Major Richard Star Act would take effect the FIRST MONTH after being signed into law by the President. Momentum is already building. Three Representatives have publicly committed to signing the discharge petition on Day 1: • Rep. Joe Courtney • Rep. Hank Johnson • Rep. Grace Meng With 323 cosponsors already supporting the Major Richard Star Act in the House, there is absolutely no reason this petition should take more than a few days to reach 218 signatures. For Members of Congress who cosponsored this legislation: Now is the time for action. Cosponsorship statements are appreciated — but signing the discharge petition is action. Veterans are watching, and with midterm elections approaching, accountability matters. Meanwhile, momentum is rapidly increasing in the Senate as well. On April 15th, Senator Richard Blumenthal committed publicly that he would continue attaching the Major Richard Star Act to legislative vehicles until it passes and stated he would once again go to the Senate floor to seek unanimous consent for passage. This week, Senator Blumenthal directly questioned Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth on whether the Department of Defense supported the Major Richard Star Act. Secretary Hegseth stated live before the Senate that he DOES support the legislation. Then yesterday, Senator Blumenthal held another press conference alongside the VFW and publicly declared: “I will move again for a vote on this critical legislation that removes the wounded veteran tax imposed on brave combat-injured veterans.” The time is NOW for veterans, military families, and the American public to contact their Senators and Representatives and urge them to support these efforts. The National Defense Committee and a large coalition of affected veterans are planning to return to Capitol Hill on May 20th to push Congress to finally move this legislation forward. This fight has gone on for far too many years. Major Richard Star — the combat wounded veteran this legislation was named after — sadly will never see its passage. He passed away on February 13, 2021 after dedicating years of his life fighting for this very cause. Veterans Appreciation Month must mean more than words. 218 signatures by Memorial Day. #MajorRichardStarAct #NoMoreDelays
