Back in my day, if you saw a 21 year old kid at the table he was very likely to be a crusher. Flip forward some years and the youngest ones are some of the biggest fish in the game.

@StefanFSchubert This reminds me I dislike the term "turn of the century." I feel like there is ambiguity regarding the prior and new century. Major off by one energy.

TIL: "At the turn of the 20th century, some 90% of American federal revenue came from alcohol and tobacco taxes." Some efficient taxation

@grsandiegoca @IDoTheThinking This is true! One would think those opinions might steer people over time though, especially with more and more news coverage about his aptitude. It's not like his polling didn't drop at all, it dropped like ~1.6%, right?

@JackGarretthip @peterwildeford no professional gambler does full Kelly. Kelly isn't rational. we don't live in infinite with infinite bets and flat utility normally people use half or 1/4 Kelly. for once off bets, maybe utility maximizing is best

Do any financial advisors here on this app know what percentage of your net worth it is advisable to invest in the fact that Biden is definitely going to be the Democratic nominee? PredictIt is somehow selling this outcome for 83c on the dollar.

Poker is cool because if you ask anyone who's the best at a specific game you'll get a bunch of answers but if you ask about overall it just is Phil Ivey

Would strongly recommend against the service @Read_CMO. After a disappointing product followed by two months of non-use they refused any refund. No unedited masters of their recordings either. Had to use for a client, never would again.

Weird psychodrama about women on the right strikes again.
Roko 🐉@RokoMijic

I actually have a take that is even more controversial than this. Not only is it the case that human societies would flourish and people would be happier if women aged 18-40 were banned from the full-time, paid workforce so they could raise children It is furthermore the case that the net total productivity contribution of women to GDP is negative, and by a very large amount. i.e. we could be richer by just giving all women a guaranteed lifetime UBI to party/date/go on holiday/do art/hobby science/whatever they like for their entire lives How could this be the case? Well, you can almost prove it mathematically; as the economy becomes more complex, contributions to GDP are more and more dominated by the right tail, which is mainly male due to men because men have a higher variance. What do women do in the workplace? They get men fired/demoted/overlooked for promotion because it's not "fair" that men take more of the top slots. Not to mention the negative contribution to politics (see: 1 in 7 men support wokeness, 3 in 7 women do) So as a pure mathematical fact there must be some stage of right-tail returns where the above is true. I just happen to think we've already passed it. Note that this is net total contribution - there's a thin slice of highly neuroatypical women who are mentally like men, but their number is very small. In fact I'll go even further: when men do work, they have a large number of average workers and a few super-producers. When women do it, they instead have a large number of average workers and a few super-anti-producers who produce negative products that eclipse and negate all the positive contributions of all the average women. Things like the anti-nuclear movement are a good example. Just us missing out on nuclear power may negate the positive contributions of a significant fraction of female contributions. (And yes, anti-nuclear is almost entirely female)

@TSA I didn't know I had to keep my receipt for my bottle of Cambodian whiskey that I had in a fully sealed, official, duty free bag. This feels wrong and I would like to complain in public forum. No one in the airport store, nor TSA employee told me this until it was too late
