@JackHouse
Fine Art Gallery showing really good contemporary art.

@EdinInquirer Local biz pays. It is a 5% silent stake in all local accommodation providers. That's on top of all existing taxes paid & a 'levy' itself subject to VAT. And if you err a £50k fine on top. #SaveSC @ASSCnews @ETAG_UK

@ScotNational @agc_reports Thank goodness they've got interests outside politics - at least they'll have some business sense and life experience unlike @Ross_Greer!

This is fairly typical of the illegal and unsafe properties being offered for the Edinburgh festival. Not a fire blanket in sight. Tenant subletting rooms, offering sofas and mattresses on the floor. If you dare ask about a licence, you get abuse. @Edinburgh_CC what are you doing about this? They are flagrantly ignoring you. Instead, you are closing down the people who have paid for safety checks, planning permission, licensing, fire blankets, visitor levy. This is just one example of the absolute car crash @Edinburgh_CC have made of licensing, something meant to prevent exactly this. #SaveSC @FionaCllr @CllrDanHeap @AlysGreens @NeilCllr @KayleighFONeill @MG4CityCentre @SimitaSKumar @julebandel @CouncillorCowdy @LordProvostEdin @CllrLouiseYoung @lmacinnessnp @EuanHyslop @Alex4Craig_Dudd @lezleymarion @JackRMCaldwell @edjthornley @susan4leithwalk @bbcandrewpicken @deadlinenews @vickimillerVS @adamtomforrest @CBI_Scotland @SCOTOnetwork @stephenjardine @briandonnellyHT @collarbrodies @licensinglaws @stvnews @stvsharon @montaukian @mediawummin @RhodaFMorrison @donaldturvill @heraldscotland @bbcscotlandnews @edinburghpaper

Admission that there is a booming black market is an admission that the licensing scheme has failed.. and when has a politician recently admitted to failure? @scotgov @edinburgh_cc

@edinburghpaper Another interesting stat. There are over 3,000 empty homes in #Edinburgh. This is more than all the licenced self-catering units operating full-time in the capital. Perhaps we should address that issue before looking for scapegoats 🤔 #SaveSC

facebook.com/share/r/1JhWPE… Mid market rent corporations exempt from rent control working out well then? 24% rent rise. As a landlord not allowed to do this even if I wanted but a small number of self catering properties are the problem? @Living_Rent @SaveSCScotland @Edinburgh_CC

Visitor Levy: Scotland’s tourism landscape is changing. Our latest map provides a snapshot of where each Scottish local authority currently stands on Visitor Levy plans, from early consideration and consultation through to approved schemes and decisions not to proceed. With approaches varying across the country, the landscape is becoming increasingly complex for accommodation providers. ASSC continues to engage with local authorities, Scottish Government and industry partners to ensure schemes are: ✔️ Proportionate and evidence-based ✔️ Practical to implement ✔️ Supported by clear guidance ✔️ Fair for businesses and visitors As Edinburgh prepares to introduce Scotland’s first Visitor Levy, the lessons learned will help shape future discussions.
