Yesterday, I made the case that having high expectations for our youth in the Church is very good for them when its done with high love. The kids aren't fragile. The adults on X, however ... well, that's another story.

@HuntJar45775 @KimballCall This seems to be your thing. Missions are bad. Interesting take. I completely disagree. There’s nothing a young man can do that will bring him closer to God than serving a full time mission. It’s not easy. It might be downright miserable from a social comforts POV.

@SocialistMormon That’s nice in theory but it’s going to go to more empty Somali daycare centers. Or more fraudulent California hospices. Socialists seem to have a false idealistic view of the government’s efficiency. Clean up the inefficiency and we’ll have plenty of money.

When I say, "Tax the billionaires" I don't want their money. I want the girl with leukemia to have the money so she can get treatment.

@Mar46706930 @KimballCall Sorry. I have this crazy notion that if a young man is called to serve for 2 years he should serve for 2 years. Living up to standards and all that.

Hey @sister_slay I wrote a poem about you. Here it is: A sister who calls herself Slay Is one-hundred percent cray cray. She believes the Liahona Led Jews to Arizona and she thinks that polygamy's okay.

Since joining The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I’ve found myself striving to do better in every part of my life. Being baptised changed the way I approach life. Being a father changed me. Being a husband changed me. Being a nurse changed me. I don’t always succeed. I don’t always get things right. Life is difficult sometimes. But at least now I’m on the right path and genuinely trying to become better. One regret I do have is how rude I was to missionaries when I was younger. I yelled at them, dismissed them, and never really listened. Sometimes I wonder how different my life may have been if I had. Still, I’m grateful the Lord guided me back when the time was right. And I’m especially grateful to the two sister missionaries who took the time to teach me patiently and kindly, even though I was probably a difficult person to teach. They were surprised by how much I already knew and how quickly I was learning, but they never judged me. I’m better for it now.

@jaaronboyce @justin_hart So Joseph used that person’s name as a place and that place just happened to be discovered with that same name along the projected route of Lehi and his family. Got it.

For 160 years, "Nahom" in the Book of Mormon was a name that didn't exist anywhere on Earth. Joseph Smith dictated it in 1829 — the desert place where Ishmael was buried in 1 Nephi 16:34. The text uses the passive: "the place which was CALLED Nahom." Lehi (a prophet in the BofM) didn't name it. It was already there. In 1988, German archaeologists excavating the Bar'an Temple at Marib in Yemen recovered three votive altars donated by men of the NHM tribe — dated to the 7th–6th centuries BC. Same name. Same century. Same region. In Hebrew, NHM means "to comfort." In Arabic, NHM means "to mourn." Both meanings collapse onto the very moment a father-in-law was buried in the wilderness. How could a 23-year-old farmboy in upstate New York have named an Arabian tribal burial ground in 1829 that wasn't excavated until 1988?
