@PhilGould15 No mention of how this was only on TV, while the AFL was also available on foxtel / kayo, which those viewers weren’t counted.

@SteveMascord After last weekend there’s been huge numbers of empty seats at all three games today. What’s going on? Parra Stadium and Gold Coast Stadium looked half empty, and the SFS looks empty in the top tier. What’s happening?

We need to take a Women's State of Origin to Melbourne next to grow the audience there.

@footyindustryAU Magic round’s the same. However, NRL fans love it and don’t want it to move or be changed in any way. I’m starting to think AFL fans don’t like anything.

One of the peculiar aspects of #GatherRound is the attendance - by #AFL standards the aggregate and average arent anything spectactular, and are actually on the low side for AFL rounds with 9 games. Critics have said all along that the AFL would be better off playing some of these matches in their proper home venues.

The "$billion invasion" as a national AFL strategy that includes rebuilding Tasmanias grassroots, and presumably spending more in WA to combat the arrival of the Bears. Post 2032 is when we know if theres real growth in the Lions with a massive increase in their stadium capacity. The NRL can make huge strides in NZ if it gives the Warriors a meaningful derby and a new tv deal that boosts wages to irresistable levels for Union types.
sportsindustry@footyindustryAU

Telegraph: The AFL’s $1 billion invasion of Brisbane’s rugby league heartland is gaining momentum - but a powerful allegiance between rivals can halt the threat and deliver the city a third NRL team. Richardson said the Easts and Ipswich consortia had to get together to secure the NRL’s 20th licence and deliver Queensland a fifth team to fend off the AFL. dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/nrl/meyn…
