@WalkerMarcus I agree there’s often bureaucracy… and that can and often does fail. However, if it wasn’t for roles like this, much of the good work with children and young people in many churches wouldn’t exist. Children and youth workers are disconnected and unsupported often.

@WalkerMarcus I’m all for the parish. I head up a youth ministry network seeking to draw young people into the beauty of the sacramental traditions of the church. We’ve benefitted hugely from the children and youth work support of the Diocese of London…. Young people also need prioritising.

@WalkerMarcus Sooo, don’t work to draw in younger generations? I agree the salary is high but sadly it is competitive for what the role entails. Many diocese are changing the name of roles from Diocesan Youth Officer to Growing Younger Lead or similar. It’s a really important role. (1)

@SW_Help this is ridiculous! The train to Weybridge right now has no openable windows and the air con is broken. The train is 30+ degrees inside and passengers struggling to deal with the temp, never mind the apologetic guard! This is not good enough!! 🥵🔥

I absolutely agree that those named in the #MeakinReport should be questioned and investigated, and if found at fault appropriately dealt with. The key players should also rightly step back temporarily from authorised ministry pending investigation.

I fully support clergy colleagues posting about the hardships of having not been paid their stipend on time.. but can we also highlight the poor pay and benefits often given to lay workers? Especially those in children’s & youth ministry! @ali_theresource #CofE

@ogdredweary I see others have said this, but as regular attendee of @WNCathedral online for a number of years, they are indeed reading the gospel in Spanish and English - one clergy for each language. They are wearing copes for a special feast service, and they are not the ones presiding.
