I’m P&T and have lost all care due to being retaliated against for reporting a crime committed by a Dr. at the Washington DC VA hospital. It’s been 5 years of delays and denials of care! I’ve given up asking for justice. The harm done to my family has broken us. I just want to rehab and return to work. I can’t even use VA CWT. I’m frustrated! I still have a lot left to give. I shouldn’t be forced to be a welfare user when I know I can rehab and return to work.

@6Voodoo I’m just guessing here: If a person goes from a salaried position to just over the local minimum wage, then I would guess the job skills the person holds were never marketable. IMO, it’s equal to having a humanities degree and only being able to make money by working in gov’t

Dude who works for me, early 50s, responsible for a mid range customer. Probably $20m a year comes through him. Every year at raise time he brings me a couple offers recruiters have sent him. As a courtesy. I match or come close. Dude makes less than this woman did.

IRAN has published the names of several of the 50 Delta Force soldiers they claim to have captured during the rescue operation to extract the US airman whose plane was shot down over Iran. They are: Sgt. Michael Anderson age 34 Staff Sgt. David Miller age 31 Sgt. Daniel Roberts age 29 Sgt. James Walker age 33 Cpl. Ryan Mitchel age 28 Sgt. Christopher Evans age 35 Staff Sgt. Kevin Scott age 30 Sgt. Brian Taylor age 32 CENTCOM denies that any US troops were captured by the Iranians and the claim cannot be verified by independent sources. If verified, then the "Rescue Mission" was not the "glorious success" that is claimed by the US, but an even greater fiasco than the "rescue mission" attempted in the Iranian desert back in 1980. ~Emilios Georgiadis @DDGSarah

@SoCalObserver @marcel_aromeh Name a single occurrence of a prosecutor going to prison for withholding evidence from the defense. You can find cases of it happening, but zero real consequences. Judicial and prosecutorial immunity is even stronger than qualified immunity.

@MattMorgan29A Not that I am for this law, but wouldn’t this allow a protected class Republican to sue the blue counties?

For over two hours yesterday, we debated SB255, a bill that invents a new term: 'polarized voting.' What does that mean for you? It means if any "protected class" is unhappy with an election's outcome, they can sue your county into oblivion, claiming their vote was "diluted." During the debate, Southern Maryland Delegation Chairwoman Patterson singled out St. Mary's County as an example, simply because we have five white male county commissioners. This is the very definition of identity politics, and I could not let this slander against my county stand. My response was unscripted, a direct reaction to the outrageous accusations being leveled against us. While it may not be my most polished speech, I will never sit silently while the voters of my home county are attacked. You can be certain of this: I will always defend you.

I’m 30. I have been serving as a soldier in the Ukrainian army for 6 years. During this time, I have lived through three phases of the same war: the forgotten trench war before 2022, the maneuver phase of the full-scale invasion (2022–2024), and the drone war that continues now alongside a war of attrition. I served as a combat medic in a reconnaissance platoon. Now I am a strike UAV crew commander. I have also written three poetry books during these years. One of them, Dasein: Defense of Presence, has been translated into English, French, and German. These photos by Khrystyna Kulakovska are my attempt to remember who I am beyond the war.

19 years ago, a high school basketball coach put his team manager into a game for the final four minutes. The kid had never played a single minute of competitive basketball in his life. He scored 20 points. Jason McElwain was diagnosed with severe autism at age two. He didn’t speak until he was five. He couldn’t chew solid food until he was six. He wore a nappy for most of his early childhood. As a baby, he was rigid, wouldn’t make eye contact, and hid in corners away from other children. He tried out for his school basketball team every year and got cut every time. Too small. Too slight. Barely 5’6 and about 54 kilograms. But he loved the game so much that his mum called the school and asked if there was any way he could be involved. The coach created a team manager role for him. For three years, McElwain showed up to every practice and every game. He wore a shirt and tie on match days. He ran drills, handed out water, kept stats, and cheered every basket like he’d scored it himself. On 15 February 2006, the last home game of his final school year, the coach let him suit up in a proper jersey and sit on the bench. With four minutes left and a comfortable lead, the coach sent him in. His first shot missed. His second missed. Then something shifted. He hit a three-pointer. Then another. Then another. His teammates stopped shooting entirely and just kept passing him the ball. He hit six three-pointers and a two-pointer. 20 points in four minutes. The highest scorer in the game. When the final buzzer went, the entire crowd rushed the court and lifted him onto their shoulders. His mum tapped the coach on the shoulder, in tears. “This is the nicest gift you could have ever given my son.” McElwain won the ESPY Award for Best Moment in Sports that year, beating out some of the biggest names in professional sport. He’s 36 now. He works at a local supermarket, coaches basketball, has run 17 marathons including five Boston Marathons, and travels the country speaking about never giving up. When asked about that night, his coach still gets emotional. “For him to come in and seize the moment like he did was certainly more than I ever expected. I was an emotional wreck.”

Good news gang — SO FAR, despite a few weaker tornadoes north of D.C., it looks like we’re taking the off-ramp scenario. I understand forecast frustration. Yes, I’ll stand in the town square and y’all can show up with pitch forks and tomatoes. Post-analysis coming tomorrow.
Matthew Cappucci@MatthewCappucci

Some recent model trends are encouraging... think of it as an offramp so to speak. IF we have storms (big if) blossom over the Carolinas, they might gobble up our instability (storm fuel) and prevent more warmth/moisture from wafting north, starving our storms of fuel. TBD.

According to Abington Police, early Friday morning at approximately 6:15 a.m., the Abington Police Department received a call reporting a woman walking in the middle of Plymouth Street. When Sergeant Marquardt arrived, he quickly recognized that the woman was in significant distress. Moments later, she stepped onto the railroad tracks as a train was approaching. Without hesitation, Sgt. Marquardt ran after her. With the train closing in, he put his own safety at risk to reach her. She struggled fiercely to break free from his grasp, but Sgt. Marquardt refused to let go. Sergeant Marquardt is a 30+ year veteran of the Abington Police Department. It was clear the woman needed immediate mental health support. Sgt. Marquardt, along with Officers Hulak and Walsh, ensured she was safely assisted into an ambulance so she could receive the help she needed. Great job Sgt. Marquardt!

NEW: Micah Washington Files $20M Lawsuit Against City of Reform & Officer Dana Elmore Micah Washington has filed a $20 million federal lawsuit alleging excessive force, racial profiling, and malicious prosecution over a 2023 incident that went viral. Washington was changing a flat tire near his aunt’s home when Officer Dana Elmore approached. After he questioned why he needed to provide ID, Elmore tased him twice. The second time while he was handcuffed and leaning over her patrol car. He was charged with obstructing governmental operations and resisting arrest. Police said a 7-gram bag tested positive for fentanyl in the field, but lab results later confirmed it was not an illegal drug. The charges were dismissed. Washington is seeking damages for alleged constitutional violations.
