Yay! GFS is back from the dead! 5-day forecast skill has increased from 0.78 to 0.92 for a highly skillful forecast. Blocking pattern onset is very difficult for global models especially when there's an omega block in the United States.

NOAA GFS model skill has gone into the ditch. Major problems ahead for hurricane season forecasting if this doesn't turn out soon.
