People who find it easier to laugh tend to live longer than those who do not. #RT ≠ endorsement. When the facts change, I change my mind.

@US_SrAdvisorAF "President Trump is paving the way for peace in the Democratic Republic of Congo" — Scott Bessent, U.S. Treasury Secretary. This sounds like a very bad joke. Donald Trump has never been a man of peace. He is, first and foremost, a businessman willing to do whatever it takes to protect his interests and those of his allies. Iran is the most recent proof of that. The #DRC is no different. It has become your new frontier in the economic war you are waging against China. The peace you speak of comes at a price and that price is Congolese human and natural resources and your backing of a regime that fuels ongoing insecurity. #DRC #WashingtonAccords

"President Trump is paving the way for peace in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and ‌he has been clear that those who continue to sow instability will be held accountable…Treasury will continue to use its full range of tools to support the integrity of the Washington Accords." - U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent

It would seem as if, on the DRC, Massad Boulos is destined to be the disaster no one expected him to be at the time he waded into the choppy waters that is the conflict in the east of that country.

The argument for “treason” & the death sentence rested on a conspiracy theory that Kabila is “not Congolese” but “Rwandan”. The same old xenophobic theory that considers some Congolese as having a “doubtful nationality”, that Tshisekedi attributes to all the members of AFC/M23.

The #USA🇺🇲, via @USTreasury, has sanctioned former #DRC🇨🇩 Pres. Joseph Kabila for supporting the March 23 Movement (#M23) & its Alliance Fleuve Congo (#AFC) political front. Last year a Congolese court convicted Kabila of treason & sentenced him to death. home.treasury.gov/news/press-rel…

There is a crook, René Mugenzi, like you, who presented himself as a genocide survivor. He toured Europe speaking in that capacity; however, on October 27, 2020, Dutch police arrested his father, Joseph Mugenzi, who was a fugitive accused of involvement in the genocide.

What Kenyans and South Africans have in common is that they think OTHERS are poor. Nyerere warned South Africans about this complex, asked them to look around.

“What Africa wants is simple: To take care of ourselves, and work productively with others. With the fragmentation we are seeing around the world, more isolation is not the solution. It will breed rivalry and division. Viewing development as a positive-sum game rather than a competition, can bring the predictability and coherence that our global system desperately needs. The question is not whether we can build a perfectly balanced world. It’s whether we can co-exist, even with our differences, and still prosper together.” President Kagame | @WorldPolicyConf #WPC2026

The issue is not for Kenyans or Africans to speak poor English. It is to understand the limitations of foreign languages. This is that they are useful only as far as they don’t alienate people from who they are. Our languages are the identity card we carry. They suggest the values we hold dear. When we elevate foreign languages above our own, we suggest that we value our selves less. It is self hate. It is like trying to run away from your shadow. A people who know who they are will aspire to speak a foreign language as a complement to their own. The aim should never be to replace it. Those who don’t speak their own language well can speak a foreign language only as a caretaker medium as they retrace their steps to their language and therefore who they are. It is a rootlessness created by circumstances. If you find yourself eager to speak a foreign language so perfectly that in the process you are eager to forget your own, then something has gone totally wrong. The aim to uproot oneself suggests as others seek to find themselves ought to lead to serious introspection of: why you want to run away from yourself. The source of the pain.
