If a Barr body / drumstick is seen on the peripheral blood film it is assumed the individual is biologically born female (XX) So how come this is seen in a biologically born male (XY)? 🤔 #BloodyRiddle

[12] Chromatin pattern can help identify cells based on their maturity. It should be used with other features such as size, colour, lobation and granulation to name a few. Chromatin patterns 🧵 [1] How many times have you heard phrases like: "Fine chromatin" "Dotted like with a pencil" "Smooth chromatin" "Clumped chromatin" "like a football (some of y'all may call it a soccer ball)"...? What do they mean and how do you make sense of it all? How does the chromatin relate to the morphology? Let's take a deep dive. 👇 #OnlyCells #Chromatin #BackToBasics

@WilliamAird4 Thank you, this was really helpful 😊 I love how you haven’t over complicated it. I’m going to add this as a learning tool for our trainees 🎉

I recently tweeted a classification scheme for hemolytic anemia. I made a short video to narrate the scheme. I would LOVE 😍your input: is this type of video helpful or do the schematics speak for themselves? You can access the video here: thebloodproject.com/classification…

@mattwright123 Leaned over to ask the haem reg exactly how to report but this was new for them too, we all ended up taking some great photos 😂 Was described as ‘numerous blasts with heavy round basophilic granulation’

I’ve never seen blasts like this! 😱 Numerous of these cells were seen in a film from a patient who had recently been diagnosed with AML 🥴

@EmergMedDr @Emz_Is Yes the cost is a lot but at least at the UHCW sites you can find a space. I’m currently at QE and pay £20 per month however if you’re not on site by 7am latest then you need to park offsite (at least a 20 minute walk) 🥲

Music was great, but the organisation of @SlamDunkMusic was dreadful and I missed two of my favourite bands. 5 hours to drive 65 miles?! 90 minutes to exit a field?! Not good enough

#MorphologyMonday Thrombocytopaenia, or a low platelet count can be caused by a multitude of reasons. When you see a lack of platelets on the film, what goes through your mind? Here are 3 images with decreased platelets, can you guess what's going on in each? #OnlyCells
