🫶 We’d like to say a big thank you to our fabulous fundraiser, Casey who has raised over £800 for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity’s Home Away From Home Appeal.
🏃♀️ Casey ran the Swansea Half Marathon earlier this month and fundraised in memory of her Dad, Lee. Lee underwent a heart transplant at the QE and was treated on the Critical Care Unit for 2 and a half months before he sadly passed away. Whilst Lee was going through treatment, Casey and the rest of the family were able to stay at a home from home just a 5-minute walk from the hospital, funded by the hospital charity.
🏠 Casey said, “The support we received during my Dad’s long stay was priceless and being able to stay near him gave us one less thing to worry about during a really tough time. The cottages truly feel like a “Home Away from Home”, which meant a lot to our family, travelling all the way from South Wales. Thank you to all at the hospital charity, the heart transplant team and the staff at the QE for looking after my Dad and our family so well.”
💜 Casey set up a MuchLoved page to fundraise for the hospital charity, and through doing the half marathon and donations from Lee’s funeral, she has raised an incredible £832. MuchLoved is a memorial tribute platform where you can remember someone special and fundraise in their memory.

@MikeDevereux3 Mike, I had a similar “discussion” about my wearing “Dress of the Day” (CS95 at the time) in the Wardroom on HMS Drake 😂

@VirginHolsHelp hi, trying to use the chat to ask a question for the last four hours, but it says it’s closed and opens at 09.00-18.30…even though it’s in that window 🤷🏻♂️
Is it actually closed?

A message from @RichardDavidson, Chief Executive, Sarcoma UK.
Not enough people know about sarcoma.
#SarcomaAwarenessMonth is an opportunity to reach them. When people are aware of the symptoms of this cancer, there's a better chance of an earlier diagnosis. [1/2]

Friends, I am heartbroken.
My husband died suddenly and unexpectedly this evening.
I feel lost. Bereft.
He was my one. My only.
My person.
💔
I have no idea what to do. What do you do when you lose your spouse? #Help

Day 592 of #widowhood
I just couldn’t do it.
His ashes are coming home with us.
The lid has been ripped off the tank that I’d buried the worst of my grief in.
I am wrecked.
Hold your partner close & know how very very lucky you are to have them.

Day 591 of #widowhood We’ve travelled up to the NE of Scotland to scatter my husband’s ashes on his favourite beach. I feel totally & utterly unprepared for what feels like the ultimate, most final of goodbyes. I miss him more with every passing day. #WidowedYoung #Grief 💔

@emtrrt_cat @ThanksCancer Yes, exactly this.
And if I may…from the moment you know that life will change irrevocably.
Kate was too unwell for most of her 2.5 years of treatment to “have a bucket list,” we made the best of the time we had, both knowing that our hopes of a future together were gone

@RichardEGrant @OliviaGranted Love this 🥰
This is my second Father’s Day since my wife died after enduring two and a half years of treatment for cancer, aged 44.
I see her in our two children and days like today are more bittersweet than usual.
Sending love ❤️

Day 586 of #widowhood
Our 2nd #FathersDay without S.
I am not ok.
Please check in on your bereaved friends & family. These special days can be brutally painful for those who’ve lost their dad, partner or child.
A small gesture goes a long way.

@geraintjohn_ Well done and sending hugs. I did the hubby's stuff within a week, I knew it would be too hard the longer I left it. But now left with a few things I couldn't bear to part with that no1 child can wear, but it chokes me up when I see him in it 😢

@FloellaBenjamin @BAFTA I’m one of your play school babies and I’m SO proud of you 🙌👏

My heart is bursting with joy and happiness. To receive a @BAFTA Fellowship is something I never dreamed would happen to me. All I did was try to make a difference to the lives of others. Hope my #Playschool Babies are happy for me ❤️

@MeditativeStory @EatTravelRock Kelly, I’m so sorry for your loss.
I just wanted to say thank you for what you said about grieving the loss of a spouse/partner when you have children.
My two were 15 & 13 when my amazing wife died after 2.5 years of treatment for cancer, they’ve been brilliant.

This was yesterday. But actually every day is #NationalSiblingsDay for those who’ve had a sibling die. Not a day goes past when I don’t think of Susan. The hole never heals - you just have to learn 2 live with it. Sibling grief has a nature all of its own &isn’t discussed enough.

Today is National Siblings Day. Our thoughts are with all those siblings who have experienced the loss of a precious brother or sister 💞 You are not forgotten. You are not alone.
