we making changes that puts children on screens when paper-based learning is superior? Human-connection is a far better motivator. If we shift to screens, we will see attendance drop. We will see further cognitive decline. We will see further screen-addiction. Culture is 5/

It isn’t SEND training that schools need. It’s funding directly into schools to adequately staff them. It’s investment in alternative provision to make place available.

@adamboxer1 @totteridgeacad I did my teach first second school placement at coplestone in 2012, and couldn’t believe that behaviour could be that good! And my teach first school was a pretty good one!!

SCHOOLS TO VISIT IN 2026 Number 1 is the @totteridgeacad - the home of great Teaching and Learning. Historically terrible outcomes, now one of the highest performing schools in the country. Non-startup schools with amazing behaviour that you've never heard of: Copleston, Ipswich Gateway, Essex Bishopshalt, Uxbridge Swanlea, East End Two schools to watch: Ark Soane and Trinity Academy Leeds are both high profile startups that get their first GCSEs this summer. Schools I want to visit: Mercia, Sheffield Houstone, Bedfordshire

The proposed changes to progress 8 are a big worry, and I think they are likely to negatively impact the sector. Here are my big concerns:

@tombennett71 has used our school as a base to deliver the hub training. I sat in and listened. This was what I heard. He underlined the importance of knowing the yp, building relationships and meeting SEND needs. He strongly emphasised the importance of having consistent 1/3

My daughter (5th grade) says to me, "But dad, out of 60 kids I'm one of only 2 in my grade WITHOUT my own phone!" Me: "I'm glad to know there's at least 1 other parent with common sense." My daughter: uhhhh dad...... HOLD THE LINE PARENTS. Kids don't need access to EVERYTHING in the world so young. Loving your kids isn't GIVING THEM EVERYTHING THEY WANT. Loving your kids is teaching them: •DISCIPLINE. •DELAYING GRATIFICATION. •SETTING HEALTHY BOUNDARIES. It is absurd so many CHILDREN have phones. Most adults can't use them responsibly. You're setting your child up for failure handing them unrestricted access to everything so young.
