Since the start of last CC season, James Anderson has taken 40 wickets at 20. However, only two of those dismissals (Lees & Bashir) were of batters who had played Tests in the last five years. He's also got Tribe and McKinney, who could both play this summer, but still.

@DanKingdom96 Does this change how teams think about their match day squad. It seems like, if your unused players are classed as 'better' than the selected players, then you'll never be allowed to use them as a sub!

A point I think some have missed: perhaps Hartley should've been allowed, but it's not that the referee thinks a WK-batter is actually the same as a spin bowling all-rounder, it's that Lancs have no spin bowling all-rounders he deems suitable so he's allowed them to at... 1/4

All-rounder Arav Shetty has been replaced by Wicketkeeper batter George Bell after sustaining a hand injury in the morning session. Wishing you a speedy recovery, Arav. 🙏 🌹 #RedRoseTogether

This feels like more evidence that broadcasters are shaping the game - it feels like Sky want less & less to do with long format cricket. What are the answers? This is crazy - why aren’t companies falling over their feet in the rush to secure this? theguardian.com/sport/2026/apr…

@LancsCCMG They are going to spend a chunk of money to produce a set of proposed rules which would water members rights down to such a level that they are irrelevant. There’ll be a push for these to be passed because they are “good governance”

Update from the Board on their SGM. What do people think of this? The Interim Chair told the Times a SGM costs the club £30,000.

@BluesVCancer @EFCCollins11 He did his job and gave the free kick Nothing about the tackle warrants a yellow card: Van Dijk’s first foul Right by the Everton box (so not stopping an attack) Went for the ball Stayed on his feet Clearly not a yellow, easy decision for the ref to give the free kick

After seeing that ref cam from Chris Kavanagh is it any wonder he didn’t book “Virg” and booked f*cking Pickford instead. It’s beyond laughable.

@FPLfrasier The 2.5-second video shows an aerial shoulder-to-shoulder contest for a high ball near the touchline, with Jones making contact and the Everton player dives. Should be yellow card Everton player simulation.

Last man foul. No attempt to play the ball. Absolutely no attempt. Someone tell me why it’s not a red card and penalty.

In 2025 companies made £658.7bn profit Double Welfare Despite the tax rate being supposedly 25%, they paid just £91bn in tax. A rate of just 13.8% On top that about 80% goes straight out of the UK and no more tax is paid This benefit, no tax for billionaires is unaffordable

@BumbleCricket You weren’t saddened by it last year when you were it’s biggest driver and taking the coin. “Lancashire legend”, you should be ashamed of yourself for your hand in the dismantling of this great club.

@LeeCarter7 @Luke_Ryan22 @BumbleCricket It’s always been a soft launch to become paywalled and monetised this season. The board have stated that explicitly from the beginning.

Lancashire to charge £20 for streaming. It will be a disaster. Surely a sponsor worth £20k a year will be more than the subscribers? I doubt 1000 will take it up.

Rachel Reeves will reportedly scrap the two-child benefit cap in the budget to help lift children out of poverty. It will cost £3 billion, meaning more tax. So should the government scrap the two-child benefit cap?

The same swivel-eyed detractors who once sneered at the NHS are now sneering at universal public services. We shouldn’t settle for crumbs from capitalism’s table; we deserve the good life. And if free public transport is good enough for their favourite tax-haven, Luxembourg, it’s good enough for us too.

@RepairBritain @patrick_hurley At the same time he makes Merseyrail sound amazing. The new trains are terrible and the Port-Lpool travel time is now 50 minutes (44 with the old trains) for an 18 mile journey. The quickest Port-Manc service at 70 minutes for a 35 mile journey starts to look like a greyhound 2/2

@patrick_hurley It's slightly unfair to compare this, the Avanti MK to Euston train is direct, high speed, no stops. With no traffic it's 33 mins, most of the time it's 45 mins. If you get the Northwestern on the same route it's well over an hour but it stops everywhere.

Residents often get in touch with me to complain about the Southport to Manchester railway service. It's been substandard for many years, but I'm hoping to try to get that changed. So to experience it for myself, I've got myself a return ticket today to live tweet the journey.

@RepairBritain @patrick_hurley Absolutely but he’s basically gone out for the day to criticise everything about the Port-Manc service. Fair enough it is expensive and definitely needs improving but his proposed action is to write to the state owned operator rather than his own transport minister 🤷‍♂️ 1/2

@JohnSunCricket @stephenbrenkley I didn’t think either Eykyn or Hatch were that terrible but we are spoilt with the quality of the sky commentary team so comparisons are bound to be negative. Only having two lead commentators and not having all the commentary team at the ground is unforgivable though.

@stephenbrenkley Comms voicing off tube from 10k miles away gives a distorted feel. Pix not always synchronising with sound, either. Rob Hatch brilliant on cycling, Ali Eykyn did cricket in his radio days. Think opinions might change with familiarity & once tech glitches sorted. Cook improving.

Plenty of people criticising TNT's Ashes coverage but their end-of-match wrap fronted by Becky Ives with Cook, Finn and Langer - as well as interviewing Smith Labuschagne and McCullum - has been thorough and interesting.

Southport’s got some nice shiny new trains to take you to the nearby big city in comfort and style. But not if you’re going to the slightly further away big city on the other line. Merseyrail 1, Northern 0.
