I was delighted to deliver the opening remarks at the ITU-T Study Group 11 meeting today in Geneva, on behalf of @ITUTSBDirector SG11’s vibrant expert community continues to advance critical work on signaling requirements, protocols, test specifications, and measures to combat counterfeit and stolen ICT devices — ensuring networks remain interoperable, secure, and trustworthy. Honoured to close the ITU-T Study Group 2 meeting this week @ITU. A record 40% women participated – a milestone for the @ITUStandards community. At a time of accelerating demand for new services and applications, Study Group 2’s expertise and advice on applications for numbering resources remains invaluable. Their outputs are trusted worldwide to guide the evolution of global telecommunications. The @ITUTSBDirector & I extend our sincere thanks to the Chair Ena Dekanic, the SG2 management team and every expert whose trusted work continues to shape networks and services worldwide.

#Resilience starts regionally, but its impact can be global. The @medewsa_project, funded by the @EU_Commission is a strong example of how regional cooperation can enhance early‑warning systems. At its third General Assembly this February in Cairo 🇪🇬, partners highlighted the role of regional action, #standards & #opendata in advancing #EarlyWarningsForAll. I am honored to serve on its External Advisory Board and to collaborate with partners in Cairo and Alexandria as the project enters its next phase. I underscored how MedEWSa’s operational experience and open‑data approaches can support interoperable, trustworthy #AI systems and inform international standards through the “Global Initiative on Resilience to Natural Hazards through AI Solutions,” in collaboration @WMO , @UNEP , @UNESCO , @UNFCCC and @UPU_UN This conversation will continue at the @AIforGood Global Summit (7-10 July 2026) in Geneva, where governance, standards, and technology come together to drive impact at scale.
