@andyburnham Its not new though is it. Why are you so spiteful towards Keir Starmer. It wouldn't hurt to thank him for his hard work and to acknowledge you are adopting his policy.

@andyburnham "I'm announcing." Burnham doesn't even say the government. All me, me, me. When in reality once again, it's absolutely nothing to do with him or his government anyway and all to do with @Keir_Starmer

@oldishbird1 @Hepworthclare @Anniepop2027 Not angry at having no vote as leadership election wasn't in the country's interests. I'm angry when representatives bring the Pty into disrepute. Plotting to bail just 12mths from GM election & oust PM 10 mths into new Lab govt, cost=£5m+ shameful naked ambition. Not Lab values

@Hepworthclare @Anniepop2027 Sure. I understand that party members are angry especially as they had no voice in Burnham’s appointment. And I’ve seen many say they’ve cancelled their membership as is their right. But for the rest of us politics moves on.

I’m now being blocked by Starmer ‘supporters’ for pointing out that Burnham, whilst not the leader I wanted, is pledging to deliver policies in the 2024 Labour Manifesto. Why must the Labour Party do this to itself over leaders? I saw the same hysteria over Corbyn.

No @BBCBreakfast you don’t get to say Andy Burnham is announcing an £8.4 billion investment in a visit to Barrow-In-Furness today only to add at the very end it was in the Defence Investment Plan released by Keir Starmer. #bbcbreakfast

@oldishbird1 It's the betrayal after 14 Tory years. Betrayal of : Manchester voters. Makerfield voters. Labour Party members. A democratically elected Leader. A Labour Govt doing it's best in very difficult circumstances. And a betrayal of integrity and ethical politics.

there is an obvious logical problem here. If Jews are not to be blamed for the actions of the Israeli government (and they most certainly aren't), why should criticism of that government constitute throwing them under the bus?
The Jewish Chronicle@JewishChron

🇬🇧 Burnham has decided to throw British Jews under the bus. "Labour has run the numbers and deemed us a small enough community to be sacrificed for a much larger and more valuable section of the electorate," writes Dov Forman. @DovForman 🔗 Read Dov's opinion piece via the link below

Free buses and cheaper days out might sound small to wealthy commentators in the Westminster bubble. Families across my constituency would disagree. This Government is helping hardworking parents give their kids a summer to remember.

This government is working with our UK Border Force 🇬🇧 to smash the gangs, use cutting edge detection & surveillance working with the French 🇫🇷 to disrupt & destroy the illegal boats. That’s how we have got them down by 45% (people) and 51% (boats) this year. Action not stunts.

@lukejcr Did he congratulate Keir Starmer on commissioning the Casey Commission in the first place? His government certainly didn't 'put it off'.

The death rate on British building sites 50 years ago was more than five times higher than it is today. But Richard Tice's call to scrap half a century's worth of health and safety regulations would mean higher profits for construction bosses, so there is that.

A PM who thinks a moral view that is guided by his own religious beliefs should dominate this debate is not welcome. Those prepared to turn a blind eye to ppl who are suffering won't support assisted dying whatever quality of palliative and social care we have.
Sonia Sodha@soniasodha

Andy Burnham absolutely right on assisted dying. Quite right we shouldn't be thinking about doing it until we fix palliative and social care. It's so good to have a new PM who understands these big moral quandaries, and takes the right approach. Very different to Starmer.

I’ve been repaying my #studentloan for 10 years. I graduated owing £26,000. Today I owe £28,000. I pay £190 a month through my salary, but £220 is added in monthly interest. I’m paying every month, yet the balance keeps increasing. How is that fair?

I was a bricklayer 47 years ago. Almost everyone I worked with is dead, many of them dying shortly after retiring. Tice is a privately educated multimillionaire property developer who hasn't done a day's hard graft in his life: he doesn't give a shit about working class people.

Lauren Edwards, who’s bringing back the assisted dying bill, has responded to Andy Burnham’s comments. She argues improving social and palliative care can go hand in hand with assisted dying as per some other nations. She also notes a 4 year implementation period for the bill.
