Israel does not want peace, I don't think there is much truth to Trumps statement to be honest. I think it's a case of panic- the Iranians have called the bluff. The world would pay the consequences if they went ahead with the strikes, it was a stupid ultimatum in the first place.

If there is any truth to President Trump’s statement about actual talks with Iran, expect Israel to significantly escalate strikes against Tehran and other areas of the country in the coming days, in an attempt to draw out a “reaction” from the Islamic Regime. More importantly, you are overlooking the macro dynamics of a war of attrition. Unexpected changes can arise that favor one party in such a war. There are many unknown unknowns in a prolonged conflict. If the war continues, it is hard to predict the final outcome or how it will end.
