Let us remain vigilant and exercise highest level of caution amidst the recent Ebola outbreak. Regularly wash your hands with clean water and soap, sanitize frequently, and avoid contact with an infected person, animals, birds, bodily fluid of an infected person, or dead bodies. Report any signs or symptoms to the nearest health facility immediately. Together, we can prevent the spread of Ebola and protect our communities. #PublcHealth #HealthAwareness #stopEbola #DiseasePrevention.

In support of achieving the Global HIV/AIDS targets, UNESO is excited to kick off the EmpowHer Fund project funded by @Aidsfonds_intl aimed at increasing access, choice, and uptake of PrEP options for adolescent girls and young women in diversity. This week, we successfully concluded a residential orientation meeting with our regional project coordinators, partner organizations, and peers to better understand the project. Together, we aligned on project goals, roles, and expectations, and discussed implementation challenges and opportunities for greater impact. Stronger collaboration. Clearer direction. Real change. #EmpowHerFund #PrEPChoice #HIVPrevention @Aidsfonds_intl

We are proud to see the voice of civil society featured in the @DailyMonitor as stakeholders call on 𝗨𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮’𝘀 𝟭𝟮𝘁𝗵 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝘂𝘁 𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗻𝘀’ 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁. In the feature, CEHURD Executive Director Ms. @FatiaKiyange emphasizes the need for increased domestic financing for health, progressive realization of Uganda’s commitment to allocate 15% of the national budget to health, and the operationalization of the National Health Insurance law to expand access to affordable healthcare for all Ugandans. A healthy population is central to national development, and sustained investment in healthcare remains critical for achieving equitable and inclusive growth. SAVE THE DATE | OUR SHOT Date: 30 April 2026 Time: 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM A new chapter in HIV prevention is here, and it demands our attention. What is Lenacapavir? How does it work? Who is it really for? And what will access look like for our communities? Far more than conversation. This is our space to ask, challenge, learn, and shape the future together. Join me for a community conversation that moves beyond headlines to honest dialogue grounded in lived experience, curiosity, and collective voice. We will be joined by a panel of 4 experts who have consistently put community at the heart of their work, people who have long stood with us, listened, and advocated for what matters most. If prevention is evolving, then so must we. Not as spectators, but as participants, so come curious. Come bold. Come ready to speak. Because the future of HIV prevention should never be decided about us, but with us. Save the date. Bring your questions. Be part of what comes next. The X Space link will be shared in the next post, along with full panel details. But also stay locked in on UKPC’s X page for more information and developments.  #OurShot #Lenacapavir #HIVPrevention #CommunityVoices #UKPC #XSpaceConversation

The Center for Health, Human Rights and Development (CEHURD) has undertaken a comprehensive review of the Sovereignty Bill 2026, focusing on the role of external financing in supporting the Human Capital Development Programme, particularly the health sub-programme. As the role of civil society in defending the rights and interests of the most vulnerable cannot be overlooked, through legal support, policy and legislative reforms, raising awareness on the rights and responsibilities of both citizens and the State, and advocating for an inclusive and progressive society, it was important to convene Civil Society Organizations to examine the implications of the Bill. Together, we assessed its proposed restrictions on NGO financing frameworks and their potential impact on health systems, human capital development, and Uganda’s broader national development goals. #SovereigntyBill2026

On #InternationalWomensDay (8 March), we celebrate the leadership, resilience, and contributions of women to families, communities, and national development, while acknowledging the persistent barriers they face. In Uganda, women continue to bear a disproportionate burden of health and social inequalities. The country still records high maternal mortality, and nearly one in three women experiences sexual and gender-based violence in her lifetime. Women also shoulder a growing burden of mental health challenges, communicable diseases such as HIV, and rising non-communicable diseases that affect their overall wellbeing. Strengthening community awareness, improving access to quality health services, and ensuring accountability remain critical to advancing health equity, dignity, and justice for all women. #WomensRightsJusticeAction

Strengthening community systems isn’t theory, it’s a lived reality. In Agweng Sub-county, Lira District, community-led action is changing how HIV services and human rights protections reach those most excluded, especially adolescent girls, young women, children, and people living with #HIV. With support from @TASOUganda under the Global Fund RSSH capacity building interventions, CEHURD worked alongside local actors to confront stigma, close care gaps, strengthen referrals, and restore dignity where systems often fall short. This article documents what happens when communities are trusted, capacitated, and supported to lead: real outcomes, real people, real change. Read the full story here: cehurd.org/strengthening-…

Nearly 1 in 3 women across the world roughly 840 million have faced physical or sexual violence in their lifetime. What’s even more alarming? This reality has remained largely unchanged for over two decades. This cannot be normalized. #16DaysOfActivismUG As the festive season approaches, let it also renew our resolve to stand against gender-based violence and protect the dignity and safety of all. @cehurduganda

❝Unsafe abortion strips women of their dignity and threatens their survival. Safe abortion is more than a medical service, it is essential for preserving dignity and saving lives. PRESS STATEMENT: The Impact Of Trump Administration Policies On Marginalized Women in Their Diversities In Uganda. We are concerned about the recent expansion of The Global Gag Rule (The Mexico City Policy), The Project 2025, and related funding cuts, which have silenced vital community-led programs have been silenced, and systematically excluded grassroots individuals and community-led organizations. In this statement we also iterate that, Treating HIV and abortion as isolated issues fragments care, fuels preventable deaths and exacerbates health inequities. Policies that force organizations to choose between providing HIV services and advocating for abortion rights are therefore not only unethical but also detrimental to public health. When I say that the Next Level Bar is about moving from protest to action, who better exemplifies this than Dr Moses Mulumba? One of the pillars of the Next Level Bar is restoring accountability and professional standards within the #legal profession, and Dr Mulumba’s career is a perfect illustration of this principle in action. Through his work in law, public health, and human rights, he has consistently turned challenges into solutions that restore dignity, build trust, and create lasting #impact in Uganda and beyond. By founding @cehurduganda and now leading Afya na Haki, he has championed access to quality health services and sexual reproductive health rights, empowering communities to claim their fundamental rights. Throughout his career, he has led numerous strategic litigation cases, programmatic interventions, and community initiatives to advance social justice in health. He has published over 25 peer-reviewed #journal articles and contributed to more than 30 advocacy and research projects, earning international recognition for his research, publications, and teaching. His leadership has always been about bringing people together, lawyers, health professionals, and communities, to solve tough problems collaboratively. Dr Mulumba embodies the vision of the Next Level Bar. He demonstrates the power of building #structures that deliver real results, mentoring the next generation of advocates, transforming resistance into reform, and turning disillusionment into redemption. Like Dr Mulumba, the Next Level Bar calls on all of us to reclaim our purpose, restore the dignity of our profession, and create a #legacy that serves both the next generation of lawyers and the nation.

As we remember the women who have died because of unsafe abortions, we also speak out about the unfair differences in access to reproductive health care around the world. We call for better laws and policies to make sure everyone can get the quality health care they need. We remain steadfast in advocating for universal access to safe, legal, and stigma-free reproductive health care, recognizing it not only as a human right but also as a critical pillar of Universal Health Coverage. #SafeAndLegalCare
