A friend of mine told me she doesn't like to travel with her friends. She chooses to travel alone instead of asking her friends along or tagging along on her friends' trips. Why, you may ask? Because her friends LOVE rushing from one spot to another, and all they do at each spot is take as many photos + 360° videos as possible. And then they immediately go on to the next place. It's like they're collecting locations, as many as they can, and each place serves little more than a filming/photography location where they're supposed to get as many shots as possible for social media flexing later on. They're working on vacation basically. My friend prefers to wander from place to place, enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells, talk to the locals, savor the local fare, learn about the local history, etc. Sometimes it can be a massive pain in the ass to travel with people whose only goal is to LOOK like they're having fun instead of actually having fun.

My colleague and I left $20 on a $309 bill at a Michelin star restaurant last night, and the waitress looked at us like we’d just insulted her grandmother.We split it—$10 from me, $10 from her. The service was fine, nothing exceptional but nothing wrong either. Just standard polite service at a place where the cheapest appetizer was $24. When she picked up the check folder, she opened it right there at the table, saw the two tens, and her face actually dropped. She snapped it shut, forced a smile, and walked away without saying goodbye.We were barely out the door when I heard her telling the hostess something that ended with “…can’t believe it.”I know Michelin spots usually expect 20%, but we’re talking $60+ on food that was good but not life-changing. Am I wrong for thinking the tip should match the service, not just the prestige of the address? Or was I supposed to empty my wallet just because they got a fancy plaque from some committee?

This is what an above average group of 7/10 American girls looks like. They're business students from a very good school (which already raises the average by a lot) They also have significantly below national average BMI. They gonna be top 15% earners. So, in order to looks and status match with them, you should be about 6 feet tall, be in decent shape, dress well, and earn about $150k. The numbers don't lie.
