@crochet_mom314 its not about the $28 buck lunch. Its not about the $28 bucks, or even the lunch. its about spending.

Yesterday I pulled up to Colombo in Lisbon at like 6 pm for the AP x Swatch Royal Pop drop. I was around #78 in line… so I literally paid Uber Eats guys to hold my spot while I went home to sleep 😭 10am comes. Store opens. Chaos. Only ~40 pieces available and suddenly Portugal’s “priority queue” law activated: pregnant women elderly people parents with kids random “injured” dudes appearing out of nowhere A whole SECOND queue spawned and basically cleaned out the entire stock before the original line even moved. End of the story, at least i bought it to someone paying 2x the price.

@RealPostFolder I'm guessing 90% is word of mouth. If he's good at what he does (which I'm assuming he is) his previous job will carry him to the next one. Websites have an instant 'yes' or 'no' feeling and quality is immediately recognized.

@bishara I'm not sure what kind of position they're applying for but in my field you're lucky if I even turn up for the interview. And I'm just a tech, nothing fancy.

a friend of mine Tesla got him doing 10 interviews including; >screening call >1 hour interview with manager >1 hour interview with peer >1 hour interview with sr. peer >take home 24 hour test >6 hour interviews back to back >presentation assignment >1 hour interview with manager (again) >1 hour post interviews >onsite tour + presentation all day 2 full months of interview steps just to tell him you’re not the right skill set 😭

The modern-day interview process is humiliation ritual of endless exhausting video calls to convince idiotic inferiors that you’ll be their good slave

For 20 years, a $6 knob that takes one hour to 3D print has been grounding Black Hawk helicopters four times a month, and the contractor responsible won't sell us the part or the IP rights to fix it ourselves. So instead, American taxpayers have been paying $40,000 every single time to replace the entire system, multiplied by four times a month, for two decades. That is NOT a procurement problem, that is a shakedown, and it is exactly why right to repair has to be in this year's NDAA.

@jeremyct 3 years unemployed and didn't take the first offer they got? they're destined to be unemployed forever. any job is a 'foot in the door'. EMPLOYED people get the best job offers. that job you're going for? it was offered to me and 800 other people before they offered it to you..

after 3 years unemployed, my friend finally got a job offer today. all he did was politely ask if there was room for a slightly higher salary to match market pay. they RESCINDED the entire offer. job market is actually insane right now.

I will never understand people who guard their recipes like they're state secrets. My husband's grandmother notoriously refused to reveal her secrets, and despite how beloved her meals were to her family, they died with her because she never passed them down.
