Why do you lie like a dog about Koine Greek? One translation is "proof." In secular terms it is used as a guarantee it has the connotation if being convinced. There is not a single use I have ever encountered in ANE literature to divorce faith from knowledge or evidence. Both God the Father and Jesus Christ point to knowable evidence and then call for faith. Why are Mormons so ready to lie in order to convince others to join them?

1848 is not “late” - it’s within a few years of the events that are described. And you cant automatically dismiss any unfavorable testimony as biased/unreliable. There are many indications that Catherine was honest and her account contains lots of information that can be independently verified - the reason she became “hostile” after previously being sympathetic was precisely because of the hijinks you guys were up to. There’s tons of evidence for wives prevaricating between reluctance, willingness, regret, defensiveness… including in Helen’s own autobiography describing her initial reaction. Emma Smith is a perfect example of the psychological dynamics at play here.

Have you guys read the letter Charles Anton wrote after Martin Harris visited him and asked him about the validity of the Egyptian characters that Joseph Smith wrote down to get validated? @bartofthehouses @GuyInco15542744 @Apologetics941 Anton didn’t know Egyptian because his training was in Greek and Latin. The Rosetta Stone had only been deciphered (1822) a few years earlier to the Martin-Anton (1828) visit and the knowledge of Egyptian language was very limited in the US.

To my fellow Latter Day Saints in Pocatello, Idaho Falls, Preston, Rexburg, Soda Springs, Paris, and other heavily LDS communities in the state of Idaho… On September 28, 2025, the day after Russell M. Nelson died, a crazed anti Mormon nut job stormed an LDS meetinghouse and brutally slaughtered 4 people, injured 8, and set the building on fire. It was the deadliest attack on the Mormon faith since Haun’s Mill. But when President Trump expressed condolences to the victims, Mark Fitzpatrick found it more offensive that the president had called Mormons Christians than the actual massacre, and took to X to not only correct him, but also insist he never do it again. Ask yourself, if this hadn’t happened in Michigan… If this had happened in Pocatello or Idaho Falls… If this had happened in Rexburg, or Soda Springs, or Preston… If this had happened in any chapel in Idaho, can you honestly say that you would want your governor saying these things about you while the police were still putting out the fire? While families were still trying to find if their loved ones were dead or not? While bodies were still bleeding on the floor? Because that’s what Mark Fitzpatrick did. And he did it because he hates you. He hates you because you are Mormon. And he thinks you being called Christian is more offensive than you being murdered for your faith. Think about that when you vote today. Should a person who hates you this much get your vote?

I didn’t know who Mark Fitzpatrick was 2 days ago. I don’t live in Idaho. I didn’t know what he said the day Latter-day Saints were murdered. But the fact that he brought out his token Mormon really bothered me and I’m happy to help him lose his campaign for governor.
