PRESS RELEASE OYO STATE POLICE COMMAND COMMENCES MASSIVE MANHUNT OVER ORIIRE SCHOOL ABDUCTION INCIDENT The Oyo State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that it has commenced an intensive manhunt and rescue operation following a coordinated attack carried out by armed hoodlums on some schools and surrounding communities within Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State in the early hours of today, Friday 15th May, 2026. Preliminary investigation reveals that the assailants, who operated on motorcycles, simultaneously attacked Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Yawota as well as Community Grammar School/L.A Primary School, Esiele, abducting some pupils, students and staff members including the Vice Principal, Mrs. Alamu Folawe. It is important to state that as at the time of filing this report, no pupil or student has been confirmed killed during the incident. Sadly, one Assistant Headmaster identified as Mr. Adesiyan was killed during the attack. In a related development, an okada rider who reportedly resisted attempts by the attackers to forcefully take his motorcycle was also shot dead. The Command further gathered that Community Grammar School, Esiele operates within the same premises with L.A Primary School, Esiele. The attackers, after abducting some victims, also took away a Toyota Corolla vehicle belonging to the abducted Vice Principal and later set the vehicle ablaze along the road leading to the forest. Following the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Police Command, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, psc, mnips, immediately led operatives alongside other service commanders to the scene for on-the-spot assessment and operational coordination, while simultaneously directing a comprehensive manhunt for the perpetrators. Operational assets, tactical teams and intelligence platforms have since been deployed to the affected communities to prevent any further breakdown of law and order, ensure public safety and facilitate the rescue of the abducted victims as well as the apprehension of those responsible for the heinous act. The Command assures residents that intensive operations are ongoing and urges members of the public to remain calm, vigilant and supportive by providing timely and credible information that could aid the investigation and rescue efforts. For Emergencies, Contact: Oyo State Call Response Center Toll-Free Line: 615. Oyo State Police Command Control Room: 08081768614 & 07055495413. E- SIGNED DSP AYANLADE OLAYINKA anipr, Mnisma Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) 15th May, 2026.

“Igbo-phobia is real. I’m not even joking. There’s someone who has been asking me out for a while now. I’ve never encouraged it, never taken anything from him, and I’m not interested. That’s just background. This morning at the office, someone mentioned a discussion on Arise TV about Peter Obi and Kwankwaso. Before I could even respond, this same man jumped into the conversation with so much intensity and said, “God forbid an Igbo man becomes president.” I was shocked. He went further to say that it would be over his dead body, that he dreads Igbo people, and that he would rather suffer than be led by an Igbo man. I asked him why. I genuinely wanted to understand where that level of hatred comes from. His response? “Igbo man? God forbid. I would rather die.” In that moment, something shifted for me. We often hear people blame history, especially the civil war, but let’s be honest this kind of deep-rooted hatred didn’t start there, and it hasn’t ended there either. For the first time in a long time, I felt unsafe. And for the first time in my life, I caught myself wondering what it would mean for Igbo people to truly look inward and prioritize their own safety and future. This isn’t about politics. This is about humanity. No one should be hated simply for where they come from. You would rather a whole country crumbles than give an Igbo man a chance. And on a personal note if you carry that kind of hatred for Igbo people, there is no space for friendship with me. I take my safety seriously. We can’t keep pretending this isn’t real.” 𝐶𝑅𝐸𝐷𝐼𝑇: Chioma Onyenze

@TrendingEx @CitizenMonitors Does President Bola Tinubu actually reads all the vituperations of his Minister,Nyesom Wike?Or is it that President Tinubu doesn't just care about all the damage that a certain Nyesom Wike, is doing to this current Presidency & the Rule of Law in Nigeria, & especially in the FCT?

“Any bank that allows the Seyi, Turaki faction of PDP to open an account for nomination forms will be in trouble. If you give them any building for secretariat, I will seal and take it. If Turaki dares me, he will lose his SAN and he will be de-robed.” — Nyesom Wike, PDP leader.

APC is reacting to the use of “Operation Wetie” by Seyi Makinde because deep down they know they are pushing Nigerians towards just that and they hate that Seyi Makinde is pointing it out. I will explain. “Operation Wetie” was a dark chapter in Nigeria’s history, particularly in Ibadan and the old Western Region in the 1960s. The phrase comes from Yoruba, “wẹ̀ tí e”, meaning “pour petrol on it.” And that’s exactly what happened. During a bitter political crisis involving the Action Group, factions loyal to Obafemi Awolowo and Samuel Ladoke Akintola clashed after disputed elections. What followed was mayhem: Homes burned Political opponents attacked Law and order broke down Violence became a political tool It got so bad that it helped trigger the 1966 Nigerian military coup, and Nigeria’s long detour into military rule. So why would Seyi reference “Operation Wetie” at the opposition summit? He is simply trying to remind the APC of what happens when: 1. People lose faith in electoral integrity 2. Political actors push systems to the breaking point 3. Institutions meant to be neutral are seen as compromised. History shows that when citizens begin to believe that outcomes are predetermined, tensions rise, and bad actors can exploit that environment. Have you listened to how apc people brag online? They tell you the result has already been written. They ask you if you couldn't stop Bola when he wasn't president, how would you stop him now that he is president. They tell you that Bola is no Jonathan. There are growing concerns in some quarters about the independence of key institutions, including Independent National Electoral Commission. Allegations and rumors, like those surrounding the appointment of Amupitan, are too serious to be ignored. Yet Amupitan hasn't resigned. Institutions should be accountable to the people but INEC is not yielding and Bola is yet to way a word about it; reinforcing the belief that he intends to snatch it, grab it and run with it. Seyi is invoking “Operation Wetie” as a reminder of how quickly things can spiral when trust in the system collapses and Nigeria cannot afford a repeat of that era. If anything, this moment calls for transparency from leadership and vigilance from citizens. Bola still has a lot of time to do the right thing. He has 30 governors, he is incumbent so he can showcase why he should be reelected, then he should give the people a free and fair election then let the best man win. Othwrwise, history shows it’s very hard to control what comes next.

INCITING VIOLENCE - GOVERNOR MAKINDE, YOU ARE UNWORTHY OF THE OFFICE YOU OCCUPY While addressing a summit of opposition political parties in Ibadan, yesterday, Saturday, April 25, 2026, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state invoked the bloody history of “Operation Wetie” to incite Nigerians to violence over his baseless and senseless allegation of the country’s descent into a one party state. The All Progressives Congress (APC) categorically condemns Governor Makinde’s @seyimakinde incitement as reckless, and a clear and present threat to peace and national security. It is particularly disturbing for a sitting Governor who bears constitutional responsibility as the Chief Security Officer of his state to conjure up one of the darkest episodes of political violence in Nigeria’s history to threaten violence against the people and government of Nigeria. By his incitement to violence, Makinde has showed himself to be unworthy of the high office of Governor that he occupies.

@jpattueyi Words have consequences. When a leader references past "operations" that led to chaos, they are indirectly conditioning their followers for a repeat. If things go south, history will remember Seyi Makinde’s rhetoric. We need leadership, not incitement.
