Pain of being a high earner in India:
India's highest earners pay close to 40% income tax.
They also buy more cars, stay in hotels, and spend more on goods and services that attract higher taxes.
Even their investments attract taxes.
FD interest is taxed.
Dividends are taxed.
Capital gains on equities are taxed.
They don't use govt schools or public healthcare either.
And despite paying significant taxes, infra remains a challenge in many parts of the country.
The tax burden goes far beyond income tax.
