Second: Under the Constitution, the separation of powers is clear: Congress has the power to declare war. The President, as Commander in Chief, has the power to command the military in a war that Congress has authorized. With respect to the war in Iran, authorization has neither been sought by the President nor granted by Congress. The President cannot constitutionally wage war without congressional authorization unless the nation has been attacked, is under attack, or faces an imminent attack. None of those conditions is present here. For too long, we have operated under a theory of presidential war powers so open-ended that it lacks anything resembling a limiting principle. The issue before us is not Democrat versus Republican, nor progressive versus conservative. It is Congress versus the President. It is Article I versus Article II. The Founders did not declare independence 250 years ago to replace one king with another. Nor did the Framers intend for the Commander in Chief to wield the unilateral war-making authority of an 18th-century English monarch. The notion that a President can plunge the United States into a regional war in one of the most volatile places on earth—without even briefing Congress, much less securing its authorization—is irreconcilable with the text, structure, and history of the Constitution. Instead of playing second fiddle to an imperial presidency, Congress must reclaim its rightful place as the first branch of government—exactly as the Founders intended. We are Article I for a reason. It is time we start acting like it.

I have two sets of thoughts: one regarding the Islamic Republic of Iran, the other regarding war powers. First: The Islamic Republic of Iran has long been the gravest threat to peace and stability in the Middle East. It is a murderous oppressor of its own people, the world’s leading state sponsor of terror, a rogue regime armed with dangerous ballistic missiles, and, until recently, a threshold nuclear state. If the Islamic Republic were to fall after four decades of repression and terror, not one American should shed a tear for its demise. Our sympathies belong not with the oppressor but with the oppressed—the 90 million Iranians who seek the very freedom and dignity that we in the West so often take for granted. My solidarity is with the Iranian people yearning to be free.

#Cignetti and #iufb didn’t just beat Miami, he bent time. Showalter Fountain went in at #IU in 1961. #Cig was born in 1961. He clearly saw #Mendoza on 4th‑&‑5 in his cradle and spent 64 yrs willing it into existence. He’s been manifesting since the day he arrived on the planet.

The 2025 matchup between Ohio State and Indiana is the first Big Ten Championship Game where both teams enter undefeated in the regular season (12–0 vs. 12–0). This is just one of the reasons next week’s championship game is huge. #iufb #OhioState

@KurtBenkert I’m hearing a lot of people turning on Lafluer. Seems unlikely that he forgot how to coach, but seems like no fire/emotion on the team, and the offense is dead. What’s going on in your opinion?

Now that Israel's attacks on Gaza have ended but large scale violence is continuing-- perpetrated by Hamas--I will be watching to see how much concern is expressed by pro-Palestine groups. If there is none, it will confirm my suspicions about underlying antisemitic motivations.

Not happy. Censorship isn’t the way. I gave money to IU general fund for the IDS last year, so they could pay everyone and not run a deficit. I gave more than they asked for. I told them I’m happy to help because the IDS is important to kids at IU
Indiana Daily Student@idsnews

IU previously directed the Indiana Daily Student to stop printing news coverage in our paper. Upon pushback, IU fully cut print, including our special editions. The IDS was not involved in the decision. Letter from the editors to come.

Curt Cignetti’s first 16 games at #iufb: +277 point differential—more than any coach in college football history. Historic run in Bloomington: Hoosier fans, we’re witnessing the best debut ever. 🔴📈 #iufb Source: Perplexity

IU’s victory has the biggest point differential of any top-10 upset in the history of NCAA football and the 2nd biggest differential of any top-10 loss. Absolutely incredible #iufb Source: perplexity

Indiana's 63 points marked the most scored by a Big Ten team against an AP Top 10 opponent. Ohio State twice had scored 62, most recently in 2018 against No. 4 Michigan.

@msuster 100% agree. They had 1 Taco Bell in Sydney, but the closest menu item they had was a bean burrito that didn’t resemble what we get in the US (at Taco Bell or a taqueria).
