@Provokethoughtz It begs the question by assuming embryos lack value. Freezing shows biological differences, not moral ones. Dependency or survivability doesn’t determine human worth, otherwise infants or the vulnerable would have less value too.

@ABmrJutt That analogy fails. Transplants treat the same person who made a choice; abortion ends a separate human life. The issue isn’t “natural consequences,” but responsibility toward another being, something society doesn’t treat as optional healthcare.

If abortion is illegal because “sex has natural consequences,” then liver transplants for alcoholics and lung transplants for smokers should be illegal too because consequences, darling, are so consistent.

@Truth_matters20 John 6: When Jesus speaks of eating His flesh and drinking His blood, the Jews react with shock, clearly taking Him literally. Instead of correcting them, Jesus doubles down. If it were symbolic, why intensify the language rather than clarify the “misunderstanding”?

The Lord's Supper has to be symbolic because we know that the ONLY way to be saved is through faith in Jesus Christ alone (Eph. 2:8-9, Rom. 5:1, etc.). The real heresy is telling others that they have to devour Jesus for eternal life. That is never preached anywhere in the Bible.

@BibleInContext1 They are so blinded that they are convinced that a guy in a robe can sit on a certain seat and then every word he utters is infallible. How gullible can you get?

If Catholics would actually read and learn what their institution officially teaches, they wouldn’t be so shocked when I share with the world the actual official teachings of their own church. But this is the problem when talking to people who are in cults. Far too often they themselves do not really know what their institution teaches. The man-made teachings of cults always contradict one another and contradict the Bible!

@sola_chad Catholics see Mary as the Ark of the New Covenant because she bore God’s presence (Jesus) within her. As the old Ark was sacred and untouchable, Mary is believed to remain ever-virgin, set apart and wholly consecrated to God.

@sola_chad Mary’s question to Gabriel makes little sense if she intended ordinary marital relations, since she was about to be married and pregnancy would naturally be expected. Her surprise suggests that she did not plan to consummate the marriage.

@hookskat There’s a third option: the Bible is an allegory rooted in real events, a symbolic, poetic account of human origins whose historical and biological dimensions can & must be clarified by science. It’s not about “how,” but about “why”, about anthropological meaning.

@Scarlet34141376 @TheJayUNF @D_Preacher_1 God ensouled Y-chromosomal Adam & mitochondrial Eve within a population of already evolved humans (Homo sapiens without rational souls); their descendants, interbreeding with their non-ensouled counterparts, transmitted the rational soul, thus creation continued through humanity.

@Scarlet34141376 @D_Preacher_1 If God ensouled Y-Adam and mitochondrial Eve within a wider population of already-evolved humans (anatomically modern Homo sapiens without rational souls), their children could marry outside their immediate family, so Cain’s wife need not be a sister.

@HisWordForever @BrianDa87344981 Quoting Genesis 5:4 doesn’t fix the gap, it highlights it. If Adam’s children married each other, that raises serious questions the text never addresses.

@D_Preacher_1 Mitochondrial Eve and Y-chromosomal Adam show all humans trace back to small ancestral groups. With such limited populations, early humans couldn’t avoid reproducing within close kin at times, so some degree of inbreeding was inevitable in our distant past.

If the past were infinite, the present would never arrive, just as one never reaches infinity by moving forward. Yet the present exists: therefore the universe had a beginning. And whatever begins requires a first cause outside time: I call it God.

@BibleInContext1 In its historical context, the Inquisition marked a step forward. It replaced lynch mobs and arbitrary feudal rulings with written procedures, records, and standards of evidence. Contrary to popular belief, executions were rare, most penalties were spiritual rather than physical.

That’s interesting that you say that because I’m reminded of the Roman Catholic institution that tortured millions of Christians over centuries during the inquisition and the murder of many during Albigensian Crusade!

When people try to frame the war with Iran as some kind of righteous holy war against an evil regime, I'm reminded of the fact that it's Western countries who practice child sacrifice... not Iran.

@BibleInContext1 “The French Revolution caused more deaths in one month [March 1794] in the name of atheism than the Inquisition did in the name of God throughout the entire Middle Ages and across all of Europe.” Prof. Pierre Chaunu, a Protestant historian.

@BibleInContext1 In its time, the Inquisition aimed to preserve unity and order. With religion and civil life intertwined, heresy was seen as socially disruptive, e.g., Cathar refusal of oaths. Compared to medieval justice, it introduced formal trials, rules of evidence, & limited arbitrariness.

@Maximumatheist If materialism is true, your belief is determined or random, not free assent. Only a non-physical (spiritual) agent could ground a genuinely free act, matter governed by laws cannot author choice.
