Simultaneously, he had continued to serve in the U.S. Air Force reserve following WWII as an intelligence officer based out of @WrightPattAFB — eventually retiring at the rank of Brigadier General (he would always downplay this and emphasize I shouldn’t be impressed by one star)

Facts: the 1/6 mob caused 5 people to die, 140 LE officers to suffer severe injuries like cracked ribs, brain injuries, smashed spinal disks & more. And many more minor injuries and trauma. With 1000s of hours of video including from the rioters themselves it was the most recorded crime in US history (we prosecutors rarely have this much direct evidence). Approx 260 trials & only 2 people were acquitted (that’s a phenomenal record). Many defendants pleaded guilty (because they were). Not one defendant won a motion for selective or malicious prosecution or disclosure violations. Some of the judges overseeing cases were Trump appointed. Defendants had every legal process and rights and these were some of the most carefully scrutinized cases by DOJ ever. The highest sentences were the most serious offenders and/or people with extensive criminal histories. (Some judges questioned why the govt wasn’t seeking higher sentences actually). ⚖️

Btw, we know nominating leftists in competitive states/districts is disastrous because we’ve tried it. It’s how we lost winnable races in strong Dem cycles — ie NE02, NY24, FLGov in ‘18, OR05 in ‘22

Hard disagree entirely. And these proxy battles distract from the core solution to the gripes at the center of them: competent, compelling, inclusive, & responsive leadership & strategy from the DNC. A functional DNC would be able to professionally manage all those conflict points within a cohesive party agenda rather than whatever @kenmartin73 thinks he’s doing by just holding on for dear life. Instead we’re left to quibble about them here on the internet while Ken tanks the Party brand even among its most fervent supporters.

Cannot disagree more. The singular problem on this side of the street in this moment is suspiciously poor & obstinate leadership at the DNC. Literally no one is toxifying the brand more than @kenmartin73 & he and those in a defensive crouch over one guy’s career in the face of his incompetence are making their own beds as well.

Also think an even bigger issue for Dems is a growing reluctance to disavow conspiratorial, clickbait leftists whose eagerness to outcrazy MAGA is doing the heavy lifting in toxifying our brand.

@JebFain I think we need to have thicker skin & process critical feedback from all corners of the party no matter what we think of wording or bona fides. Because yes, that is actually the party brand right now— & 🙉😤 helps no one. A competent autopsy would have avoided ALL of this.
