Tweeting statistical notes about major sports betting events. Being a nit on twitter for more than a decade.

It's been one week since @TheAtlantic published my April cover story on America's sports betting boom. The reactions have been really interesting. A few observations below:

BREAKING: THE MLB is signing a multiyear contract with Polymarket. The deal is estimated at three years and $300 million, according to @FOS. This move comes as prediction markets are being investigated as illegal gambling operations by multiple states.

my one tip for the “how can young writers make more money?” discourse is to note that editors will often pay a bonus if you go long. So like, my Gawker contract was $8/word, but I’d often file 2–3 times as many words as initially agreed upon, and they’d bump me up to $10/word

33 years ago today, 15-seed Santa Clara overcame a 13-point 2nd half deficit to stun 2-seed Arizona in one of the most historic NCAA Tournament upsets.
