I think this is the most asymmetric upside bet in the market now. Position yourself smartly and you can make 10-1000x with relative ease. How? Even if politicians try to bury the fraud, the bond market can’t ignore it. Their math will show that even if the fraud is only 10% of total state and municipal budgets, it’s already way too much and should go to paying back debt holders. Right now spreads don’t reflect this and are too tight - ie look at California Credit Default Swaps - it doesn’t reflect any fraud, budget shortfalls or the billionaire exodus. There is little chance these spreads don’t move as the bond market comes back to work and processes the events of the last few days. Now, if instead of 10% fraud, they believe that fraud is 20-30% of all tax dollars, the cost of borrowing will escalate sharply until federal, state and local governments are forced to act. This is when the CDS trade becomes the most asymmetric profit opportunity of our lifetime. Buy the CDS -> wait for politicians to try and bury it -> ie in California -> see the bond market increase borrowing costs -> see the CDS blow out -> asymmetric bet pays off. The takeaway here is that the bond market lives in an alternative and adjacent universe from the politicians and media. The latter group can try to bury an issue but when the former group is asked to fund it, a reckoning happens and the former group always wins.

What if … What if the real fiscal revolution isn’t higher taxes or austerity, but rooting out fraud? Imagine if the bond vigilantes finally woke up to the fact that reducing government fraud and waste could shrink the deficit faster than any rate hike or spending cap. The real shocker might be just how much of Washington’s spending is pure noise, and how putting the entire government budget on a transparent blockchain could fix it overnight. What would the doomsday crowd on Wall Street say then, when the deficit problem isn’t “unsolvable,” just unaccountable?

My latest episode of Success Stories with Steve Cross is now live. This week, I sat down with Jeff Herrmann, Global Client Director at Kantar, to talk about building a career that never stops evolving. We explored how to create opportunities instead of waiting for them, why a bias for action beats a perfect plan, and how AI is transforming the way leaders think about growth and human connection. My favorite part of the conversation was hearing Jeff describe how curiosity has shaped every stage of his career, from pioneering digital measurement at Nielsen to leading global client partnerships today. We covered a lot of ground, and it’s one of those episodes that will make you rethink how you approach both career and leadership. The link to listen is in the first comment. Which idea from Jeff’s story resonates most with your own leadership journey: creating your own opportunities, staying curious, or learning to lead alongside AI?

Slop…my new favorite term being tossed around in AI culture. Thanks @Jason! Slop refers to text, images, or videos created by generative models with little human oversight, often repetitive, shallow, or factually weak — the digital equivalent of filler material I was playing with AI video generators today on the treadmill (walking after having a really solid push day.) I simply wanted a 30 second Reel. For convenience, I tried to upload a bunch of pics and videos to ChatGPT 5 to see what would happen. It kept asking me repetitive qualifying questions… like it was just trying to exhaust me into giving up. When all was said and done, and I thought something was going to happen, it finally just told me to go to CapCut. Kind of strange that it led me down the confirmation path so long and then finally pushed me to another platform. I guess I can understand why because processing videos is incredibly expensive and sucks up lots of GPUs. Still waiting for my Sora 2 code… Anyone have one?

Just in- Utah authorities have confirmed that Discord messages from Charlie Kirk's alleged assassin, Tyler Robinson, discussed a "drop point" for the rifle used in the shooting. The messages also contained inscriptions that were to be put on the bullet casings.  Key details from the investigation: •Discord messages: Robinson's roommate showed investigators his Discord messages. •Drop point: According to the messages, Robinson discussed retrieving the rifle from a "drop point" and leaving it wrapped in a towel inside a bush. •Rifle recovery: A Mauser .30-caliber bolt-action rifle, wrapped in a towel, was later recovered from a wooded area near the shooting site, matching the description in the Discord chats. •Bullet inscriptions: Utah Governor Spencer Cox confirmed that casings from Robinson's rifle were inscribed with messages. The lyrics to the Italian folk song "Bella Ciao" were found on one of the unfired casings.

I am grateful to Governor Spencer Cox, Utah law enforcement, Kash Patel, and the FBI for giving this case the time, resources, and hard work it deserved. This is a big breakthrough, and everyone who helped--from the law enforcement professionals to the people giving tips--deserves our credit and gratitude. In some ways, the investigation is still in the early days. But I do believe we have the shooter in custody. Say a prayer for Erika Kirk and those two beautiful babies. We took a big step this morning in getting justice for Charlie, and for his family. Thanks be to God for that.

This needs to be trending on @netflix and @AppleTV so more Americans can see the brutal reality of the war in Ukraine. Maybe after its debut in a few theaters that’s the plan, if so, I’m all for it. Incredible film. Find a way to watch it however and wherever you can. Through helmet cam footage and an embedded film crew, it tells a powerful story about these brave warriors and their fight to take back their country. You learn the personal side of each soldier. Why they joined, their optimism about how this ends, and their family members missing them at home. As expected, hits a lot of emotions.

@newheightshow @JasonKelce @tkelce .@JasonKelce you're an academic at heart. Tyranny of choice brother! That's why they stick sports stars on cereal boxes to cut through with consumers. Happy to be your academic backstop as I was the NE Ohio guy at Cannes/Stagwell that helped you with "self effacing humor."
