@som3thingwicked @GeneSteratore He "turns upfield" before he catches the ball. Then the ball comes out of his hands when he hits the ground. McMillian does possess the ball through his contact with the ground after gaining possession. Easy call. Clear interception.

Cooks is (1) facing upfield when he highpoints the ball and then (2) turns downfield and turtles to protect the ball after securing it. How is this not an act common to the game? Oh, by the way: "...tuck the ball away and turn upfield..." Note to NFL rules experts: Players commonly tuck and turn downfield after a catch (towards the opponent's end zone). No players tuck and turn upfield (safety). Coherence matters.

At some point when reviewing plays, the league should consider adding a speed threshold for anything involving the element of time. When you slow plays down to 1/100th the speed, it distorts what actually happened and makes it look like, in this case, Cooks possessed the ball for seconds prior to losing it. The game is not played in slow motion or frame by frame. For a catch: A) Secure control of the ball ✅ B) Two feet down in bounds ✅ C) After (a) and (b) have been fulfilled, clearly performs any act common to the game (e.g., extend the ball forward, take an additional step, tuck the ball away and turn upfield, or avoid or ward off an opponent), or he maintains control of the ball long enough to do so. C is where there is a judgement needed since A and B are clearly met. Now consider this note to the rule: If a player, who satisfied (a) and (b), but has not satisfied (c), contacts the ground and loses control of the ball, it is an incomplete pass if the ball hits the ground before he regains control, or if he regains control out of bounds. Because Cooks did lose control of the ball when he contacted the ground and the ball never contacted the ground, it was ruled an interception by Denver.

@TheRealAlper @DougKyed Yeah but he takes 2 steps, breaks the plane of the endzone, and goes out of bounds before he loses the ball. 3 things that didnt happen on the interception

I understand why Bills fans don't want to understand why it's not a catch. They're emotional and invested. It's natural. They're quite literally coping. I genuinely don't understand how anyone who is not a Bills fan does not understand that Cooks didn't survive the ground. It does not matter that for a fraction of a second his knee is down, and he was touched. That's not the rule. The moment he hit the ground, he lost control, and the ball wound up in McMillian's arms.

I’ve watched this video countless times and I’ve come to one conclusion… If you think this is a catch by Cooks you either don’t know ball or you’re a Bills fan. There’s no other explanation.

@its_skip_b @Baltimore_MJD No. Adams caught, landed on two feet, turned upfield, fought for yardage against two DBs, then his knee touched before the ball was pulled out. Clear catch and down by contact. Wouldn't it just be easier for you to post, "I don't know NFL rules" and move on?

@winger58 @Baltimore_MJD You're kidding, right? Adams catches, lands on both feet, turns, and fights for yardage against two DB's. Then, as he's going down, his knee hits, and then the ball is stripped out. Not even close to the same play, and yes, this is a clear catch and down by contact.

Obviously a lot of talk about the overtime of Bills vs Broncos. Here are my thoughts on all of the big rulings down the stretch: No Flag for PI on Denver I support the decision to not flag Denver on the fade route. Is there contact? Sure, but it’s a play on to me. Interception or Catch? The interception is a wild play, with a lot going on. Seeing it full speed, I thought it was an interception and would’ve ruled it that way if I was on the field. My perspective on it is that Cooks lost the ball as soon as his body hit the ground. In my opinion, if there was no defender near him and he lost the ball when he hit the ground, the ruling would’ve been incomplete. I would have liked to see the game stopped for a more formal review, with an announcement from the referee on exactly how they ruled. Pass Interference #1 on Bills I didn’t think this was a foul. It was, to me, the same play that happened the drive before with Denver and didn’t warrant a flag. Noting that on that play there was a flag for Roughing the Passer too, so Denver still would’ve got a first down. Pass Interference #2 on Bills Clearly correct and pass interference.

@WonderAgain28 @GeneSteratore lol he literally loses control and the ball hits the ground, also didn’t have control until the 2nd step. The bias of these people is wild. This isn’t a catch if cooks isn’t a catch. Will argue anyone all day about this

@GeneSteratore Good morning Gene. That was a catch. The defender rips the ball out of the receivers hands while he's down on a contested catch that goes to the offense. They're both down when he pulls the ball out of cooks hands.

A game that determines the season for both teams Four controversial calls ALL go for one team I dont care First NFL game I watched all season But to a casual fan that’s kind of a joke TBH And they didn’t even pretend like getting the call right in the interception even mattered. Seriously? Joke league bro

@KevinHerrmann9 @brgridiron @NFL Really? If he goes up for the ball, catches it, defender contacts him before he comes down, and the ball comes out when he hits the ground, is it a catch?

@brgridiron @NFL It's unreal because it rewrote what a catch is in the NFL. Possession, knee down and touched down is no longer a catch. It now prolongs the play.
