Boston 2022 was my first marathon ever. Monday will be my 3rd Boston and 6th marathon overall. This race is the reason I run. I’ll never forget the first time I turned right on Hereford and left on Boylston. I was hurting. I was crying. I had no idea a road race could feel like that. That moment is why I’m still here. Why I spent the last 4 years chasing faster. Why I keep coming back. If you’re grinding toward a BQ right now and the timeline keeps slipping, read this: The people who get there aren’t the most talented. They’re the ones who kept going after the cycle that didn’t work. After the race that fell apart. After the injury that set them back 6 months. Boston rewards the people who refuse to stop believing they belong there. The left turn onto Boylston is waiting for you too.

@Budgetdog_ You know way more about this than me but curious nonetheless - do you have a tax harvesting account? It seems to offset some potential capital gains if that was the source of your pain.

Not sure what kind of start I’m going to get off to or the game I’ll have on the first tee but it’s going to be important to stay patient and take it shot by shot. I feel good in the prep that I’ve done and all I can do is fully commit to my shots and pursue them the best that I can and see what happens. I’ll be watching some of the early coverage to see how the course is playing. Wish me luck!

Augusta Diaries Wed -Fina prep day on the course. I played the first nine. It was nice to look at the notes I had written down from Monday and to double check some of them. I made slight adjustments to some of them but I was happy with the homework that I had done. -The wind is out of the NE or thereabouts. It made the first nine very challenging. The only downwind shots were 2 tee, 4 tee and everything else felt into the wind. 2 was almost harder as it was down off the left and super hard to turn it over enough with that wind. It’s going to be way less windy during the tournament but it looks like it’ll be out of that NE most of the week. -Played the Par 3 contest with good friend Si Woo Kim. Actually played the first nine with him today as well. I had my gf caddie for me and we had an awesome time. Temperature and the scenery was perfect. Still looking for that elusive ace though. -I tee off 1139. Will get to the course around 930 to do some warm up and eat some food as well. I have a feeling the greens are going to be really firm and it’s going to play different than last yr. Last yr, there was a ton of rain that softened things up early but not this yr. It’ll be that much more important to hit my numbers.

@blaketaylortxre As more companies expand in Frisco and Plano, the really far exurbs like this will attract people who work in those nearby large suburbs—not downtown

Absolutely wild price for this 4/3 and 2100 sq. ft new construction home in Celina, TX Yes, it’s on a TINY lot (row house style) but it’s a big house for $350,000 This regional market seriously price corrected over the last 3 years because they BUILT MORE HOMES (IT WORKS!)

@oiltrsh @Tyler_McComas I think that’s the problem. The people that hit behind her are so elite. There is nowhere to put her. Also I see them throwing away from her all the time now and her HR’s are now just going out to right field.

Kendall Wells hitting her 30th home run Game 41 is insane. But when you really watch how far these balls travel…that’s the most impressive part. 30 home runs as a freshman and seemingly every single one is an absolute no-doubter off the bat. Never seen anything like it.

The fitness jump from 20 to 30 miles per week (32 to 48 km) up to a consistent 40 miles (64 km) is massive. When runners ask about workouts and getting faster, I usually ask back, “Have you ever put together 3 to 4 months of consistent 40 mile weeks?” If the answer is no, that’s your answer to getting faster. Not new workouts or more workouts. More consistent volume. It takes time. If your true easy pace is around 9:30 to 10:00 per mile (5:55 to 6:12 per km), you’re looking at roughly 6 to 7 hours of running per week. That’s the buy-in. It’s a commitment, no doubt. But for a lot of runners, the move to 40+ mile weeks, held consistently for several months, is exactly what takes them to the next level.

Imagine you had to choose your life at age 40: Option A: Single. No kids. $50M net worth. 850 credit score. Private jet. Option B: Married. 2 kids. $3M net worth. Drive a Toyota. 10 BTC in cold storage. 500 credit score. Fly Southwest. Be honest, which life are you choosing?

@WallStreetApes When I read this I don’t think the issue is with the insurance carriers. How is the issue not with the health providers /hospitals who are charging insurance companies 10x what they are charging the uninsured? Insurance companies in turn have to charge the insured a ton. Vicious

American is a healthy 28 year old, he decided to skip paying for health insurance this year because the cheapest plan was $900 per month with a high deductible He had to spend 2 nights in the ER without insurance, he breaks down the bill “This is my receipt from spending 2 days in the hospital: - It totaled about $24,000 - My CT scan alone was $8,300 - Laboratory, 6,000 - IV therapy, $1,020, $4,000 in total And while $24,000 seems like a lot of money, let me show you something. This is what I'm actually paying, $2,478 because when you don't have insurance, these hospitals give you a discount. They discounted $22,000 off of this bill” “But if I had insurance, I wouldn't have gotten that discount. So it would've been a $24,000 bill billed to my insurance, and then my insurance would've said, ‘Hey, you have a $5,000 deductible. You need to pay $5,000 for this last emergency room visit.’ Then you tack on the $900 a month that I'd be paying for that insurance. I'd be paying $20K this year for healthcare. So the craziest part about this is even if I have another hospital visit, by the end of this year, I'm still gonna be paying less than I would if I had insurance. At minimum, my cost for healthcare this year would've been $20,000 with insurance. Right now I'm at $2,400.” US Health Insurance is a scam

@tyromper We’re holding the line until they’re at least 13. We found that if we’re open and firm about the date/age it’s been relatively easy. And yes we hear about how everybody else has them!

My daughter (5th grade) says to me, "Hey dad, out of 60 kids I'm one of only 2 in my grade WITHOUT a phone!" Me: "I'm glad to know there's 1 other set of great, intentional parents besides your mom & I!!" My daughter: uhhhh daaaaaaad!!......... HOLD THE LINE PARENTS. Young kids don't need access to EVERYTHING in the world. Loving your kids isn't GIVING THEM EVERYTHING THEY WANT. Loving your kids is teaching them: •DISCIPLINE. •DELAYING GRATIFICATION. •SETTING HEALTHY BOUNDARIES. It is absurd so many CHILDREN have phones. Most adults can't use them responsibly. You're setting your child up for failure handing them unrestricted access to everything so young. She won't have one in 6th grade either! When did you allow your kid a cell phone?!

Hit me with your top daily trainer recommendations. Currently I’m on my second pair of Asics Novablast 5, which is my favorite daily shoe since Nike ZoomX Invincible 2 (sadly they butchered v3). I like something with a bit of cushion and pop. Not a fan of the basic trainers like Nike Pegasus, they are fine quality just not for me. Some models I’ve tried on •Adidas Evo SL Everyone seems to love this shoe. It felt pretty good in the store, there was just something slightly off in the fit (Adidas has been like that for me). I chose the Novablast 5 over it. Maybe I need to try it on again. •Nike Vomero (Plus) Tried both models, just “meh” for me. I love Nike racing shoes, their trainers are hit or miss New Balance and Saucony stores are on my to visit list. Several reputable brands like Puma and Mizuno I’m also interested by, just have never worn their shoes. Recommendations appreciated 👟

Jim Nagy@JimNagyOU

UPDATE @OU_Football fans: NCAA has denied Owen Heinecke's petition for another year at OU. When other players are being granted 7th and 8th years of football, CFB governing body has ruled Owen won't get a 4th year. Evidently, this walk-on's three games of lacrosse at Ohio State in 2021 couldn't be reconciled. There will be an appeal. If that appeal is denied, one lucky NFL team is going to get a stud two-contract player and an even better human being. Love everything you're about, Owen. You stand for everything that is pure and great about college football, @HeineckeOwen! 🤝🫡

@BoomerJanowski @PaulZeise @chambleebrandel I feel like we’re making it too hard. Two things can be true. 1) the LIV was never competition to the PGA and 2) the PGA felt it needed to change some of its model because of the LIV.

@PaulZeise @chambleebrandel Maybe 1% impact, LIV always was and now is proven a joke. Maybe a short term disruption but nobody with any sense seriously thought they were a long term threat, again this has now been proven. No tour did not “find” money. Another conspiracy theory

LIV may have disrupted golf, but players leaving LIV is a tacit admission that the fans knew exactly what they WEREN’T talking about. LIV events have no drama, no meaning, no depth, team events that felt artificial and broadcasts that felt bought that never crescendoed.
