I am an early Vue adopter. Since joining a team using React, I have thought more about reactive state management under the hood than I ever have. This is not something I want to do when I'm focused on shipping features. It's easy to take for granted how well Vue is designed.

@jherr The one that ground my team's productivity to a halt was a tangled unobservable mess of massive hooks mixing useState and Jotai atoms. I'd be working in a hook down the hierarchy and spend most of my time trying to guard against rerenders. Not fun. We refactored to signals.

What are some big React project anti-patterns that you've seen? Issues that end up needing big time refactoring to keep the project maintainable?

@DavidKPiano I often want to use websockets for time series signals like progress events but I always get pushback from my team about scaling and keeping services stateless. They tell me not to be afraid of polling. I haven't had enough experience with scaling websockets to have a counter.

I wish that WebSockets were more commonplace than promises for web apps. A promise lets you wait for at most one thing. A WebSocket lets you receive AND send multiple things over time. Which is more versatile?

Migrated Vue 3's entire test suite from Jest to Vitest in one day, 175 test files / 2647 test cases. A couple of small issues, but I found workarounds - 99% of test code remained exactly the same, and almost everything in Jest has an equivalent.

@simonswiss Working on multiple web apps for my organization; public and private; company branded. Lots of common components between them. I split components into a Public UI lib which any project can use, or a Private UI lib which our internal-only projects use for sensitive components.

Has anyone created reusable, styled components with Headless UI? As in, leverage the a11y, keyboard navigation and all the goodness of Headless UI's primitives, and export them with specific styles/variants applied, so they can be "consumed" without doing any styling?

I have been really enjoying working with parametric bezier curves for this color design project. They are quite a powerful tool! There's a lot to appreciate about well-crafted color palettes. I love seeing the hard work by the folks at Tailwind visualized in the curve editor 😍
ShiftLimits@ShiftLimits

Added the #tailwindcss color palette into my color scale curve editor and wanted to share this visual. Look at the way the hue curve for the `stone` scale meanders through yellow/orange. Nothing is linear about their color palette. Good to keep in mind when designing your own!

The CSS specification for Container Queries just went to “First Public Working Draft”! YAY!! 🥳😍🤗 What does that mean? The people who define CSS believe now that this can be done—we’ve figured out exactly how to do it. Congrats to everyone who’s worked on this for many years!!

The preprint was already impressive but the final paper in @NatureBiotech is 🤩🤩 Whole brain imaging of a rhesus monkey at 1 × 1 × 2.5 µm3 voxel resolution. Combination or serial section and clearing. congrats Xu et al., Bi and Lau labs go.nature.com/2TC64ER

Can AI make graphics look realistic ? 🚗 👇Proud to announce a new work with Stephan Richter and Vladlen Koltun. I worked on this in my internship at Intel but majority of credit is to Stephan who persisted to make it work and work robustly. full video: youtu.be/P1IcaBn3ej0
