Track & field is one of the last places in a school where the football captain, the valedictorian, the band kid, the wrestler, and the quiet kid who never thought he belonged can all wear the same jersey. Track does not care what a kid’s last name is, how much money he has, what side of town he lives on, or how popular he is. Out here, none of that matters. Somewhere between the workouts, the bus rides, and the meets, kids who might never have spoken to each other start to build real respect. It is hard not to respect somebody when you have seen what they are willing to push through and how much they are willing to give. That is a big reason track & field will always mean more to me than just times, marks, and points.

Schools are running multimedia departments as standalone operations to support college athletes. Very smart, and very creative. This is the next phase in the arms race. First, it was NIL and rev-share dollars “here’s how much we can pay you.” Now, it’s “this is how we’ll market you and align you with our brand partners and others.”
Front Office Sports@FOS

As college sports continue to break viewership records, the entertainment ecosystem around them is ballooning, too. Athletic departments across the country are rapidly growing their creative teams to produce content that attracts top recruits, deep-pocketed donors, and new fans.

Converting all schools to solar power is a great money-saving strategy since they use the most power during daylight hours.

In 3 yrs this #solar installation at an Arkansas high school turned the district’s budget from a $250K deficit to a $1.8 million surplus. They're using the surplus to pay teachers more We have the solutions. Implement them. #ActOnClimate #ClimateAction #climate #NoWarNoWarming

🔋 The battery replacement argument doesn't apply to modern Teslas • Packs rated for 300,000-500,000 miles minimum • Average driver at 12K-15K mi/yr has a 25-40 year runway before degradation becomes a factor • Early Nissan Leaf chemistry was the origin of that fear - not Tesla's pack architecture Tesla's cell thermal management changed the math entirely.

This is always funny to hear. Batteries in a Tesla are designed to last at least 300,000 to 500,000 miles. That’s roughly 15–35+ years for average drivers (assuming 12,000–15,000 miles/year). Plus, every new Tesla comes with an 8 year warranty on the battery.

@theficouple The battery replacement is a killer. That has kept us out of the EV game so far.

Unless you’re driving 500+ miles per day, you don’t need an EV with that much range. The average person drives around 37 miles per day. Current Tesla offerings provide way more than enough for the vast majority of people. On road trips, I can usually only drive about two hours before I need to get out, stretch my legs, etc. During that time, my car charges. It’s not the inconvenience people think it is. It doesn’t make sense to lug around a huge battery when most people don’t actually use that capacity.

The @uiltexas does NOT house state records. They house state MEET records. The “UIL State Record” can only be broker at the state meet. For now, I agree with this because most HS meets are not trustworthy enough to contribute record marks (faulty timing, improper set up, no wind gauges, don’t use certified officials etc). Where UIL missed the mark. Not caring enough about the amazing athletes to have the state meet sanctioned by World Athletics (the international governing body). That’s right… Tate Taylor’s 9.92 and Mia Maxwell’s 11.04 from the Texas State Meet are not recognized outside of the US. Fortunately for Mia, she ran 11.04 again at the Brooks Inv meet (which is sanctioned by WA) Andrew Jones is the US HS #2 300h of all time. He is not the UIL Texas State Record holder. Solution Typically, D1 universities are equipped to be WA sanctioned and their college meets tend to be WA sanctioned. Every UIL meet that occurs on a D1 college campus should become WA sanctioned. Any meet that’s sanctioned by WA should be acceptable for record purposes. Then you can truly have State Records.
