@tyromper I think about this all the time. I do important and fulfilling work but too many hours working is not healthy for me and my family/relationships

A story my uncle told me changed my life. He worked 27 years climbing the ladder as an executive at a big company. A friend he worked with for over a decade was in his early 50's & their offices were right next to each other. A random Tuesday this man had a massive heart attack & died ON HIS DESK. By that next Monday a new guy was in his office & it was as my uncle described "business as usual." These big companies don't care about you at all.

I got a home worth 35% more than what I bought it for 7 years ago. House is everything I need, close to work, a sanctuary, safe neighborhood, great community. 2.8% interest. Even if the price went down 40% I wouldn’t sell. Forever home situation basically I think most homeowners own their home ouright. A recession would suck for people whose primary wealth is in their home. Would be good for young people that cant afford a home now. We shall see

Dude like 80% of those jobs are now the self serve check out. When i did it as a teenager it was hell on your feet and easily prone to repeitive injury. Lots of the job in the USA are union but as soon as you move up thr ladder and get a pay raise they cut your hours so you still dont make enough to support yourself. Hats off to those making it work but not a good option.

@GoingParabolic If it is anterolateral quad it is likely meralgia paresthetica. Occurs from too tight belt/pants and very common in diabetes/prediabetes. Meralgia parethetica is self limited usually over 3-5 months Have an A1c check and consult your doctor.

My most fond ikea story. I was moving buildings going to a new school. Just happened to be during a blizzard. Had the tall Ikea bookshelf unloaded from the truck. Took my hand off it one second and a big gust of wind came up sending the bookshelf flying forward. It legit shattered into 200 pieces of particle board. just had to laugh at that. I bougbt another and it is still sitting in my media room with 500+ dvds Not the prettist thing in the house but it does its job.
