One month after starting the war in Iran, this is the statement of the President of the United States on Easter Sunday. These are the ravings of a dangerous and mentally unbalanced individual. Congress has got to act NOW. End this war.

People don't understand how bad things are going to get unless Iran or Trump TACOs by Tuesday. For context, it would make the economic impacts already felt worldwide by the closure of the straits of Hormuz seem like a joke. If the war continues to escalate and Trump and Israel decide to take out Iran's oil and energy facilities as they threaten to do unless Iran surrenders, Iran has promised it will do the same to the whole middle east region. Iran still has the military capabilities to do so even as the war enters its sixth week, as it proved when it targeted and blew up Kuwaiti oil infrastructure today, and they can repeat this pattern of attacks everywhere in the region for many weeks if not months. Around 30% of the world's oil comes from the middle east. Simply put, the world cannot afford to lose 30% of its oil supply. We're not just talking about massive inflation, fuel shortages, the complete industrial shutdown of whole regions and the destruction of the world's global economy, but also about actual mass starvation happening in many countries worldwide. Obviously some regions in the world would fare better than others in this scenario, some might just experience the economic effects while others will literally go hungry, but this will impact every single person on the planet. Bottom line: If the war escalates to include oil and energy facilities, this will bring about a global economic and humanitarian catastrophe not seen since WW2. For now this is the worst case scenario, but it will become the base case scenario if both sides act on their threats, and sustain this new phase of the war for a prolonged period of time.

Stop entertaining the notion that Trump would take the US out of NATO. Firstly it would require congressional action. Second, and most importantly, Putin would never allow Trump do this, as paralyzing the organization from within is much more valuable. A new "NATO" without the US, but with its own massive arms manufacturing capabilities, and with Ukraine at the core of it – now that is an idea worth pursuing.

Genuinely puzzled as to why aren't Democrats forcefully defending Obama's Iran deal? It was a legitimate, legacy-defining accomplishment. Instead, they're letting Trump's wreckage define the terms. Makes no sense.
