@PhilipIngMBE @GuidoFawkes @Youngded Love your coverage of Ukraine, Philip. On the war I really respect your voice. But seriously, Al Carns doesn't deserve a handshake? He'd understand the strategic/ tactical threat Russia poses. He'd be a voice for veterans and safe pair of hands in the world of eroding alliances

@henningwehn And you think the English refs would be impartial to the club founded by impoverished Irish immigrants? How about the Dutch start reffing the German national team games lol

Celtic and Rangers should join the English league. Referees in Scotland are clearly not independent enough to ref them. Disgraceful decision!

@JeremyJason17 @DanNeidle My take is that the lawyers, who were not tax experts, gave their view and advised she get expert tax advice. When two lawyers provide the same views, I can understand why she skipped hiring a tax advisor. It was a bad mistake, but not a deliberate mistake to avoid paying tax.

You can absolutely think the stamp duty result for Ms Rayner was unfair and the law is over-complex, but then you need to be in favour of abolishing the second home stamp duty charge This kind of complexity is an *inevitable* result of the policy.

@ProfSteveKeen So many British centrists (@campbellclaret, @RoryStewartUK etc) decry a lot of left wing economics as fiction. Though are never asked what they think of Piketty, Zucman, Atkinson. Or even the true nature of Keynesianism, always the stimulus but never the taxing back, why?

I think it’s time you tried to redeem yourself Paul. With your current behaviour you are justifying people treating you as a shrill for neoliberalism.

@paulmasonnews @robertkapok “If the global left – which was on a roll during 2011-2013 – is to regain momentum, it needs leaders like Tsipras to find thinkers and doers like Varoufakis, and to nurture them.” @paulmasonnews didn’t you write this?

@AngelaRayner I'm a left leaning Labour voter (gen elec and recent scottish constituency vote). Could you explain the reports that "two sets of lawyers advised that you obtain tax advise" which you did not seek. Did HMRC mention this? Or were the reports untrue?

I welcome HMRC’s conclusion, which has cleared me of any wrongdoing. I have been exonerated by HMRC of the accusation that I deliberately sought to avoid tax. When purchasing a home of my own with a mortgage, I did not own any other property and had no personal financial interest in the court-instructed trust set up to manage my son’s financial award. I was advised by experts that I should pay stamp duty at the standard rate. I set out to pay the correct amount of tax. I took reasonable care and acted in good faith, based on the expert advice I received, and HMRC has accepted this. I have always sought to act with integrity, and I believe politicians should be held to high standards - that is why I resigned from government and cooperated fully with HMRC.  I wanted to ensure that I paid every penny that I owed, and have done so. I am relieved that my family can now move on - and that I can get on with my job.

@DanNeidle @StuartMaggs I agree, I'm left leaning and voted Labour in the Gen Election and on the purple ballot in Scottish Elec (reluctantly). But... how? Clearly she was at least negligent. Unrelatedly, how is Nige's £5m not against parliamentary rules? Morally indefensible. Stricter rules for all pls

@DanNeidle @Heccles94 Do you think it was deliberate evasion? If so what do you think the repercussions are? If not do you think even though it's illegal would you class it as more/ less moral than either of Rayner situ/ Farage (£5m gift)

@MrJones66140081 @CraigMurrayOrg @mjdaly57 Well that's just ridiculous. His dad was not "working class aristocracy". he was part of the skilled, upwardly-mobile, working class. Without economic growth this group has withered away. He's wrong that small changes and more sensible stewardship alone will fix this.

I watched Keir Starmer's speech closely today and made a real effort to be fair to him. But the central section about his working class family, carer sister, troubled brother, sick mother and his labour values just came over as completely insincere. Something learnt not felt.

@CraigMurrayOrg He's not insincere, he's definitely sincere he just doesn't just doesn't know that the problem requires major change. He really believes the slightly better management and small, incremental changes will solve it. He's wrong.
