@Simon_Hypixel @eli_gr3n Simon being Simon 🤣🤣, never change. I actually think the opposite, make things more challenging. I know it's not a survival game yet, but it would be great if the immersion increased and people didn't get the best stuff after only half an hour of gameplay.

@Simon_Hypixel Revert the change to pickaxe requirements for ore mining. Cardinal sin of survival sandbox/free-form games: Do not remove player agency. This approach is too heavy handed and comes off as reflexive and lacking nuanced understanding of the underlying desire/pain point that's causing the behavior/avoidance. Once you start introducing explicit restrictions and saing, "no you can't do that," it stops being a game where "you can do anything." It transforms from an emergent experience, into a checklist simulator where your fun is gated behind min/maxxing a path between Number A, and Number B; and that framework is always dominated by a meta. You can change the meta, but you can never eliminate that the meta exists once it does, without an overhaul/elimination of core systems. If we should arrive at the number "4" and you intend the game to be sandbox and free-form. Then give us access to everything from 0 to 9 and tell us to figure it out. Once you start prescribing explicit solutions, it stops being a game where we own our own experience. It becomes a recital of cold memorization. We start doing things because we "have to" or we're "supposed to" instead of "we want to" or "its cool and fun." There are plenty of games that are spreadsheet simulators. And you're building an experience engine that can be crafted into exactly that. But when the base game becomes that, its hard to see the engine as producing anything else. Thankfully, we've seen people run Doom in Hytale. We've seen people develop crossplay with Minecraft. You can't put the genie back in the bottle (without pissing everyone off). Let us mine Mithril with a crude pick. It's ok if it takes forever and burns through an entire inventory of spare crude picks for a reduced yield of the ore. And don't limit how many picks we can carry so that we can't try that. Make it possible anyways. Give us options. Don't "tell" us we can't, "show" us BETTER options by making them more efficient/better yield, etc and then ALLOW us to slam our head against the wall anyway, if we so desire. Don't tell us how to play a game that is literally built on us playing however we want. And turn bugs into features as often as you can. Channel edge cases into a controlled environment, instead of leaving desires unaddressed and "instinctually" latching on to every exploit that satiates it. If you really want to restrict tool usage, then never make them do zero damage or hard lock-out player choices or shut down agency. Just make the tools that "shouldn't" work, break before the node does. Blocks reset damage states after time anyways, leverage it. If I want to super-heat the sand in the box to make rocks that think, let me do that. If I want to dump water in it to make a booby trap, let me do that. If I want to collect it in a pile and dig a tunnel at the base of the mound, let me. If i want to eat so much of it that I get teleported to a secret desert mouse level, let me. Within technical limits, and without getting lost in feature/scope creep, err on more agency in the base game. IMO, The base game is MOSTLY a solo to small-group experience, and server hosters will just mod-out this restriction (or double down on it). You can always add artificial time gates and arbitrary restrictions once you have a full, complete game and you've determined that the full "1.0" scope has areas of lack, and even then, that might not be solved by telling the player "no." Although sometimes it is

@slikey @RayKKitsune It's a favorite mod for so many people, and when I saw that Simon said he was working with one of the modders, it was a pleasant surprise. Please don't ruin it :c

@RayKKitsune This will impact all modders and is in no way specific to Create style automation. Another example would be a block that can be supercharged with magic. Imagine a workbench or furnace that works faster. At the moment animations are stuck at a single speed.

We are tracking 3 feature requests here btw: - Variable animation speed for blocks (to reflect RPM or operating speed) - Animation Speed smoothing (for RPM changes to speed up / slow down) - Linear Interpolation on animations (currently only allows cubic)

I've literally dedicated my life to my automation project @OrbitechMod since I knew Hytale was saved. I'm in love with modding, Create mod automation and Hytale and I've been working every single hour of my free time since then I wish Simon could see the project and chat with us!

@slikey @RayKKitsune Create Mod is already perfect on its own; just look at the size of its community and the number of people who love it. It's a safe bet, so why not do it just because a few dozen people don't like it or simply want their own "style"? They can modify it a few things.

I would be very happy if @simon_hypixel could answer me, so please tag him. My question is simple: are there plans to change Hytale's crafting system in the future to be like Minecraft's 9-block grid? We have many fans of this system, especially here in Brazil. #Hytale

Help us test our accounts system for Hytale by making an account here: accounts.hytale.com Tokens for reserving your name will be coming out in the next couple days, keep your eyes peeled for that! Having your account ready to go will make you 1 step quicker to getting your name reserved.

@slikey When Hytale was announced in 2018, I was happy because I had just gotten a good PC. Now, that same PC is broken and outdated. Right now, I'm just focused on getting into university, so even though I'll buy Hytale, I'll probably play it sometime around the middle of next year 😔

So, you had some time to digest the Hytale system requirements. What is the cheapest PC you can build from used parts to play it? I tried myself but haven't seen someone else 😅

@Simon_Hypixel @MikeyQ_Playz The fact that backpacks can be upgraded and customized, like with that Sophisticated Backpack mod, opens up a lot of possibilities for this game. I love the game for what it can be and what it will be. I'm really looking forward to it 😅✌️

Tested Hytale exploration mode gameloop this morning for 2 hours, no crashes, lots of fun moments. Still lots of work ahead to make it good, focusing on small wins for fast development. Large scale QA starts tomorrow. Morning notes: NPCs are still acting weird sometimes but can be fixed over time. Knockback on enemies feels wrong, needs complete overhaul. We added back shovel tool but made it AoE dig, now it’s actually useful and fun. Mining still feels bad, needs to implement momentum feature and potentially have the signature ability system to tools as a whole (like weapons) so we can have fun coming up with abilities (probably post launch). Side note: Non-creative (exploration mode) building improvements are happening. Block placement is starting to feel good, rotations and connected blocks works well. Today I need to test our builders bench with new changes. The problem is that we have way too many blocks for building and honestly its a mess, dozen of edge cases for crafting and I want to simplify and make it fun, not tedious so players feels like empowered when building and not restricted, but need to keep immersion in mind. Its critical to get it right because its a game where building is core to the game experience and at the moment its not there just yet. Months ago it was very very frustrating to build, now its actually decent but still need improvements. Today we have small changes that might just make it work well. Extra note: Massive progress over the past week, being on our own PC has accelerated progress by so much. However it has personally slowed me down because I have been dealing with interviews, clips, screenshots, QnA and other things. It was important to do, communication is critical so everyone understands the state of the game. The team has been very busy anyway so it was probably a good thing I didn’t put more on their plates. Will do more reports as we progress if you guys like it.

When I say Hytale is not good enough, I genuinely mean it. It's not some reverse psychology trick! Real talk: We are using a 4-year-old game build with over 300 versions (branches) of prototypes that we Frankenstein together in record time into a single branch. None of it was meant to be released this quickly and in this way. There are barely any game progression mechanics configured, and we have to implement them all in record time to make it somewhat enjoyable. Of course, I'm confident it's going to be "ok" for release. However, this is the current situation we are dealing with, on top of all the bug fixes, refactors, clean-ups and other ongoing issues that we are facing. We inherited a true hardcore engineering and design challenge, and we are on the clock to deliver early access. The exploration of the game is fun, don't get me wrong, but man, I wish we had more time to get a few more features or configurations in to enhance that experience, but no, we break the curse of release and fix later. This will come at a significant cost; some people will be permanently convinced the game is doomed to remain in this state, unaware that this is an authentic early access experience. I hope that people who share the game will explain the situation we are in and how we got here. Keep in mind, the gameplay video doesn't show much of the gameloop because, well, there isn't much of it. Combat, game vibe, and exploration are great fun, but there needs to be mechanics to keep it going over time. One thing I have learned over time is to enjoy the painful feedback. It is the most critical part of making games and improving yourself as a game designer. Of course, you have to be filtering out the ones that want to steer you in their own vision of what the game should be, so it's a balancing act. When I read negative feedback on the gameplay video, I don't get defensive or hurt. I'm literally like, "Yep, they are not wrong" or "Why do they think like this? How can I solve their problem?" This has taken me years to get to that point. Our community, over the last 14 years on MC, has not been shy about giving us their feedback. The one thing I can promise is that the game is owned by someone who cares and understands the situation, and I will do my best to empower my team to make a great game, however long it takes. This time, with all of you along for the ride, if you wish to be a part of it.

Minecraft is one of the greatest game of all time, it has perfected many designs that no one appreciates. Hytale is going in a very very different path, we are more going into adventure aspects as a core game (with modding in mind). We will not have things like Redstone for example. Magic will be part of Hytale in many aspects, very much so fantasy feeling. Another thing is, our crafting is moreso like the games like Valheim / Terraria instead of grid crafting. So its very different and allows us to go in a different direction. I have great respect for the people at Mojang, they have created an amazing game and community, our games will be very different, Minecraft is still one of my favourite game of all time.

@internet_guy299 @Simon_Hypixel Exactly, and they could even improve it by adding electricity, making it work with all of Hytale's systems, large-scale crafting, magic, potions, and very complex mechanisms. The potential of such a system is enormous. I hope Simon adds this as the official Hytale Redstone 😔

Hytale will take 0% from modders and server owners for at least the first 2 years. We will trust that they bring us players; that is all. We will not have any exclusivity clauses. By the players, for the players.

@ccost1 @Simon_Hypixel Yes, I know it's a mod, but I was referring to the official Hytale "REDSTONE." When I imagined it, I pictured it as something like Create Mod, and it would fit perfectly with Hytale's visual style; they could even improve upon it. That mod's system has enormous potential.

Working on locking down the release date ASAP. We currently need to run hardware tests, wrap up legal docs, stabilize the game and fix a few security issues. I’ll have a precise answer by the end of next week. Pre-orders, name reservation and account creation will begin as well. All pricing will be announced, FYI base edition under $30 USD. We are almost home.
