@engineering_bae ~12 years ago I interviewed at a place. My lunch buddy was a Sr. Eng and he spent most of the time telling me that he didn’t need to learn Git as Perforce was fine. That stuck with me. I feel like the most important part of being an engineer is being open to learning.

I’m continuing to see some engineers shirk off AI and I truly worry about their career longevity. I understand change can be scary or annoying because you have to learn something new. But continued learning has always been part of our jobs, this is just a bigger, more rapid shift. Get with it or get left behind.

Google and Microsoft just co-authored the spec that turns every website into an API for AI agents. The second-order effects here are massive. Right now, browser agents work by taking screenshots, parsing the DOM, and guessing which buttons to click. It works about as well as you’d expect. Fragile, expensive, slow. WebMCP replaces all of that with a single browser API: navigator.modelContext. Websites register structured tools directly in client-side JavaScript. The agent reads a menu of available actions, calls them, gets structured data back. No scraping. No backend MCP server in Python or Node. The tools run inside the browser tab and share the user’s existing auth session. Early benchmarks show ~67% reduction in computational overhead compared to visual agent-browser interactions. Task accuracy around 98%. The second-order effect is where this gets wild. Today, when a browser agent visits two competing airline sites, it’s guessing at both interfaces equally. Once WebMCP adoption spreads, the site that exposes structured tools gives the agent a clean, reliable path to complete the task. The site that doesn’t forces the agent to fumble through the UI. Agents will prefer the cheaper path. Every time. This means “Agent Experience Optimization” becomes a real discipline. Tool naming, schema design, description quality. Sound familiar? It’s the same shift that happened when meta descriptions and structured data became optimization surfaces for search engines. Except this time, the traffic source isn’t Google’s crawler. It’s every AI agent on the internet. Bots already make up 51% of web traffic. Google just gave them a front door.

@engineering_bae My dog Penny grew up in Seattle and went to work with me every day. She rode the bus to work for many years. I will say that if your dog becomes your world (Like mine did), you end up catering to that. We now live outside the city a bit partially so she has a yard to play in.

@engineering_bae I’ll say that each dog is an individual. You can be the best dog parent and end up with a dog that nips or is a jackass to people. Living with a dog is a compromise where you adjust to them and they adjust to you. If it’s important to you though, you’ll figure it out.

My husband and I want to have a dog one day, but living in a dense city, there seem to be SO many people who are terrible dog owners. Leading to dogs that nip/bite and run wild. Making us nervous about bringing a dog into that environment. City dog owners, any thoughts? As people who don’t have a dog now, we can’t decide if we’re being dramatic or not.

@engineering_bae Twitch has a whole company 2 week shutdown over the holidays (And 1 week in the summer) and it’s honestly the best to not have to think about work and kind of not have a choice about it. And not have anyone else working to bug you. It’s definitely the best perk.

People often discourage me from taking PTO around the holiday since I work remote. Reminding me most people are gone so they’re easy days. But I truly enjoy not having to think about work while I’m traveling and/or with my family. Yes, things are slower at work, but that just means less stuff for me to catch up on when I get back 🙌🏾😂

@engineering_bae First of all, congrats! My advice is similar to my engineering advice: Know who your team is. My team is my wife. You don’t always have to put each other first or always agree or always be happy with each other. You just have to remember you’re teammates and respect that

📣 We're extending the deadline to May 19th, 2025. We know this change is tough. We've improved download speeds, exports, & expanded bulk selection from 20 to 100 to make it easier to download and delete your highlights. Changes will roll out in product by the end of the day!
Twitch Support@TwitchSupport

We’re implementing a 100 hr storage limit for Highlights & Uploads starting 4/19. This won’t apply to Past Broadcasts (VODs) or clips. Less than 0.5% of streamers exceed 100hrs & this content accounts for <0.1% of hours watched. Users will be notified. link.twitch.tv/storage

@Devchicajas Every company is so different. When I moved to a FAANG, I had 13 years as an SDE. They brought me in as a mid level engineer. In a lot of ways it ended up being a blessing in disguise. If I’m honest, I wasn’t ready to be a Sr. there, and the promotion 2 years later was nice

A recruiter recently labeled me a junior despite my short lived experience as a Senior Product Manager. It’s tough when years of experience don’t align with job market perceptions, making me feel like the work I did meant nothing 🥹

We recently took my nephews to the park to play basketball. An older woman was unnecessarily rude to them. My wife was ready to go mama bear and throw down. The older nephew told us, “That’s someone’s grandma. Just let her be. You’re not going to change her”

@MysteriousSl0th @Twitch So: It’s most likely that the clip is more horizontal than vertical. It would seem YouTube makes a determination after upload if it should be a short or not. You may try using the editor to making it more vertical to see if that fixes it. (We’re looking into this)
