A potentially overlooked point about @amnesty labeling Beira’s Place an “anti-rights group” is that it stigmatises the women who *use* it. It implicitly frames traumatised rape victims doing nothing but seeking solace and support as deserving of shunning in “polite society”.

“FWS is only ‘anti-rights’ if you don’t consider women to be entitled to any rights in law or public life. It’s a sad state of affairs that Amnesty has sunk so low as to defame prominent women’s organisations, including a rape crisis centre and support networks for abused wives and children." thetimes.com/uk/scotland/ar…

I love the BBC. It gave me everything I have (well, them and ITN who have been amazing as well). But there is an internal civil war going on and this article tells you everything you need to know: "... we apologise for the failures in our reporting." bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

The conclusion I draw from the Early Day Motion that more than 130 MPs are entirely relaxed at the prospect of continued unlawful sex discrimination seen in recent judgments like the Darlington Nurses and LS v NHSE. As an experienced equality lawyer that sadden me greatly

I do wonder if a lot of heartache & embarrassment could have been avoided all round if a friend of #PeterMurrell had introduced him early to TK Maxx. I got a pair of Abercrombie & Fitch chinos that were originally £600 for 19.99. & a salt & pepper set for 4.50. 🤷‍♂️

The Unions, whom their members look to for accurate legal guidance and representation, are showing they don’t understand the Equality Act , the status of the Statutory Code of Practice or the impact of For Women Scotland. Can female members expect any help?
Ellie Cumbo@EllieCumbo

Worth noting that the draft Code of Practice on Services, Public Functions and Associations doesn't apply to workplaces. (As its title might be seen to indicate.)

The perpetrators walk free while the victim is made to feel she did something wrong. What kind of message does this give? Powerful interview from her and her parents with @bbclaurak bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

We welcome the EHRC’s updated Code of Practice laid before Parliament. We were especially pleased to see direct references to victim-survivors of male violence. We will continue to provide women-and-girl-led women-and-girl-only services. More from us here niaendingviolence.org.uk/nias-ceo-respo…
