@hunterwright @kellygramlich @EricMacLain @CFBPAOfficial @InglesAdvantage Rev share is coming! That's what the recent settlements are about. Collectives will continue to exist, but w/ rev share will likely no longer be the main source of athlete income.

Could the ability to collectively bargain lead to players staying at one school for their whole careers? Justin Falcinelli thinks so ⤵️ @Jfalc50

As revenue sharing with college football players begins to be solved this summer, let's immediately turn to policing and stopping the other problems of college football. Only independent players associations can truly eradicate problems like this: inquirer.com/college-sports…

The College Football Players Association supports a collective bargaining model without employment. CFBPA plans to start lobbying Congress.
Wrote in today's @On3NIL Newsletter about the role of Congressional assistance in the future of college sports.

The College FB Players Association announces its supports for a non-employment, CBA model for the sport - something Jack Swarbrick and others within the industry believe is a solution.
A Congressional carve-out is needed as explained here - bit.ly/48PwZP8

@ChrisVannini Especially great model to go after, as soccer clubs often have 60% + revenue share with the players

Last summer, I wrote that college football was more like European soccer than the NFL.
The EPL is already a Super League. So are the Big Ten and SEC. Richest teams, recruiting, talent movement. And soon perhaps a Champions League?

Source confirms to @TheAthletic discussion of a 3-3-2-2-1 CFP model, with auto-bids for B1G/SEC (3 each), ACC/B12 (2 each) and G5 (1), plus three at-larges.
You know what this model is? It's European soccer.

@CFBNerds This ultimately failed, as Kevin Warren and the Big 10 began directly calling players and offering made up big 10 council positions instead. That council never met once.

$600 and a copy of the game is shameful for college athletes.
Let me explain why:
NFL players are compensated ~$30,000-35,000 per year to be in the Madden video game. Assuming there are roughly 3,000 players in the game, that’s well over $90M.
Carry that to the NCAA video game which will undoubtedly sell the same amount if not more copies due to the fact that it’s been 10 years since the release. The same $90M divided by ~16,000 players across Div. 1 football, should be well over $5k per player.
Don’t get me wrong, I am as excited as anyone that the game is returning. However, $600 and a copy of the game is not worth what you’ve spent 10 years fighting for.
English

@CFBNerds Hey happy to talk with you guys more about who we are and what we are doing some time. Had fun talking last time game news came out.
English

@SoonerKeith1 @RealGeoffGoods @CFBPAOfficial Madden dev costs are around 100 mil a year. If the game makes more than 300 mil they are likely clearing all marketing expenses and will make wayyyyy more than 6 mil. EA will absolutely take over 100 mil profit for this game. 6 mil is insignificant at that scale
English

@Jfalc50 @RealGeoffGoods @CFBPAOfficial This game isn’t going to gross a billion over 5 years. lol. The series might, but not this version. And that’s nowhere near the profit EA would see (which would just be a fraction). 6 mm is definitely not “pennys”.
English

The news here is that this is the first group licensing deal in sports business history to not include royalties. CFB players get a video game instead of royalties. The athletes of the second most popular sport in America are being treated like children. Video games instead of 💰

NEW: College football players can opt into EA Sports College Football 25 beginning today. 🎮 All 134 FBS teams in the game 🎮 Players will get $600 + a copy of the game 🎮 Opt in via the COMPASS NIL app 🎮 More 11,000 players expected in the game MORE: theathletic.com/5291622/2024/0…

@SoonerKeith1 @RealGeoffGoods @CFBPAOfficial This contract locks players in for their eligibility unless they opt out between Dec 1st and 31st. 600 a year for 5 games.
English

@EssentialDD @BeatinTheBookie 6 mil will be less than 1% of revenue
English

@BeatinTheBookie I read that there’s 11,000 D1 football players so it could be $6.6 million after alls said and done
English

@RealGeoffGoods @CFBPAOfficial if the game makes over 1 bil in revenue over 5 years, then 6 mil is 0.6% of that revenue. Will it be over 1 bil? probably not but over 500 mil? almost certainly. 6 mil is pennies in both production cost and potential revenue for this game.
English

@CFBPAOfficial There’s no way this game could happen if they were given a Royalty.
That’s $6.6M paid out. An incredible amount of money. $600 is a lot for a backup kicker on Jacksonville State.
English

@kennesawdawg97 @CFBPAOfficial The issue is that the O'bannon case makes a character creator a legal gray area. They have to try to include athletes in order to have that available, but want to take advantage of an unorganized group and pay bottom dollar to get it done.
English

@CFBPAOfficial Tell them to opt out. Someone will edit the rosters and everyone will download them like we did in the old NCAA games
