That’s insecurity. 💯 Somewhere along the way, being loud became more important than being good. And the worst part? It’s being allowed. When I came up… • You showed up early. • You handled your business. • You played hard. • You shut your mouth. • If you had something to say… you said it with performance. • And if lines were ever crossed, the players took care of it. The truth: 👇 • Baseball is hard. • You’re going to fail. • You’re going to struggle. • The game doesn’t need more noise… • It needs more respect. • Nobody remembers who chirped. • They remember who showed up. • Who competed. • Who handled adversity. • Who left the game better than they found it. Spoke with an MLB Infield Coordinator today. Asked him what defensive stat/metric was important to them. 1. Catch Rate-Simply securing the ball 2. Arm Accuracy-How accurate are there throws. 3. Prep-step timing-How efficient they react to batted balls. Never mentioned Velocity across!! #noneedforPGshuffle

Shoutout to the HS baseball guys who shut it down for the next several months to strap on the football gear and get after it. You only get a few years to do it. HS football builds character, grit, resilience, discipline, toughness and team first. Scouts love these guys.

If you are wondering why batting averages are down at the Major and Minor league levels, look no further than what is being taught throughout pretty much every organization. They teach their hitters to swing uphill, to try and get the ball in the air, and on the flip side they teach their pitchers to throw 4 seamers to the top of the zone. I rest my case.

One of my least favorite things to do is write a lineup. I find myself thinking about who’s not in it more than who is in it. Making hard decisions is the beauty/struggle of coaching!

If your hitting guru claims his way is the only way, he’s crippling you…not in the way he thinks. He’s robbing you of the natural exploration that every athlete deserves. He’s essentially stealing your curiosity and making you uncoachable in the process. ? > !

I want to know you can play the game of baseball on the baseball field during a real game. Too many cage hitters out there as well as pitchers who throw hard inside facilities but when they go into a game the Velo is down by 5 or more MPH and they can’t throw strikes.

One of the pros I trained would hit 82-83 off tee, 90-93 front toss, 95 in BP—then go hit 109 off live velo. He wasn’t chasing EV like an arcade score. He was chasing moves that hold up under game pressure. EV was feedback, not the goal.
