Nice study and interesting! We also identified a similar subset of dendritic cells, which we called CDC2C (PRDM16+), in the human esophagus (nature.com/articles/s4146…). From analyzing public data, we found these cells in the brain, colon, and two cross-tissue scRNA-seq datasets.

Check out this incredible study from the #LittmanLab @nyulangone @nyugrossman dissecting the origin of peripherally induced Tregs in the gut, with broad implications for therapies for autoimmune diseases! Co-led by Rabi Upadhyay, no biases here

ScPhere (w/ Aviv Regev @broadinstitute @MITBiology @kochinstitute @HHMINEWS, now @genentech) was published @NatureComms nature.com/articles/s4146…. ScPhere (pronounced “sphere”, Aviv coined this word & pronunciation) embeds cells into non-Euclidean spaces and addresses batch effects

Bert Vogelstein's work has shaped our understanding of the molecular basis of cancer. Now his team at Ludwig Johns Hopkins is racing to test a treatment to prevent #COVID19 deaths, even as it advances a powerful new technology for early cancer detection. bit.ly/3d1XaWk

Are you confused about the role of type I interferons (IFN) in #SARS_CoV_2 infection? Here is my speculation on what makes IFN-I helpful vs. harmful in #COVID19 patients - it comes down to timing and dose. A short thread. All figures made by @BioRender & @annsea_park (1/n)

So here is how to make t-SNE 💔-shaped. In t-SNE, all points are initialized close to 0. Gradient descent lets similar points attract and distant repulse; the embedding slowly expands. I constrain it to stay within the heart: points are not allowed to penetrate the boundary.

@hippopedoid Good for a Valentine's day card :) I think you can do this in two ways, one is trivial simply by post-processing after convergence, one is by constraining the embedding during optimization.

Weird enough, I now have over 2^10 followers here on Twitter despite writing almost exclusively about t-SNE ;-) So here is a ❤️-shaped t-SNE embedding of MNIST. Can you guess how I made it? Explanation tomorrow.
