@Jim5155 @ALGAR1N @DiscussingFilm She got rid of every poetic nuance that existed in the text and projected it to a simplistic speedrun plot exposition. To a native speaker some parts are just laughable: "what a complicated man". Any properly prompted LLM would do a better job than this slop.

"To England, indeed, the independence of the Greeks must always be a subject of alarm. It is at sea alone that they have as yet shewn any symptoms of spirit and perseverance and the success attained on that element by the islanders of Hydra may caution us against indulging with out restraint in wishes for their restoration and aggrandisement it can only be by her trade that Greece can ever become powerful but the union of Constantinople and the Archipelago under the government of an active and commercial people would be in the highest degree dangerous to our naval power. The position of that city was judiciously selected by Constantine as a scite for the capital of the world and it is said that its advantages have not been overlooked in the projects of the modern Emperor of the West." English MP Frederick Sylvester N. Douglas on the worrying possibility of Greek independence, 1813. An Essay on Certain Points of Resemblance Between the Ancient and Modern Greeks, Frederick Sylvester N. Douglas · 1813, p.193-195

This Turkish nationalist singer had a concert in Komotini, Greece in 2024, where she proudly sang songs about how the Turks massacred Greeks. Yesterday, the same shameless woman tried to enter 🇬🇷 with her family but she was deported. She has the audacity to call us ridiculous

Seriously. Greeks were occupied on their own land for 400 years, 2nd class citizens, paying the "jizya" tax to their Muslim overlords who frequently stole their children to force convert and turn into soldiers (janissary troops) or brides. This only ended when the Greeks fought like hell to expel them starting in 1821. This should be the first thing they teach in school these days, it even deals with indigenous people fighting off an occupying force. So why isn't this one of the models?

Greece has banned kosher and halal slaughter. The Hellenic Council of State, announced the ban deeming them “inhumane." The courts found that the religious preparation of animal products did not outweigh the suffering of those animals' welfare, The British government should do the same.

I strongly condemn Turkey's decision to deploy F-16s to Cyprus. The move is unnecessarily antagonistic and escalatory. This is yet another reason why Turkey is an unreliable ally and why @POTUS should reject selling F-35s to Ankara or waiving CAATSA sanctions.

@PredicHistory tbh Alexander did intent to attack Rome and expand West, after concluding with this conquests on the East. South Italy was already Greek, and did lose to the Romans due to sheer logistics. That’s a story that survives till today under the phrase: Pyrrhic victory.

The strongest nation never wins. Not in ancient China. Not in Greece. Not in Mesoamerica. Not in the Middle East. Every empire in history was conquered by the most marginalized, most isolated, most resource-poor people in the region. Because resources create comfort. Comfort creates arrogance. Arrogance creates blindness. And blindness gets you conquered by people you never took seriously.
