as someone who was the perfect age to consider him my generation's Great Movie Star his post-DARK KNIGHT RISES run of projects has been nothing short of calamitous. I can only assume working with David O Russell gave him the acting equivalent of CTE and he's just never recovered.

They improve the ending compared to the book, too. (The ending in the book works, but it would be kind of a downer if translated literally to the screen.)

@sircalebhammer There are four or five scenes at the end of Project Hail Mary when you think the movie is over. People start getting ready to leave before they realize the movie isn't over yet. It keeps going and going until it ties up every last thread, and the ending is absolutely perfect.

@prowelshguy There isn’t really a hint of irony in PHM. I guess there is some “well that just happened” type lines if you count that, but it is optimistic and earnest almost to a fault. I feel like people who are huge fans of the other movies listed would hate PHM.
