Burnham is wrong to press ahead with Starmer’s appalling Chagos surrender which will give away a British sovereign territory alongside the indignity of paying Mauritius £35 billion of hard-pressed taxpayers’ cash. Burnham is no different from Starmer. Same old Labour undermining our national security while making Britain weaker on the international stage. telegraph.co.uk/politics/2026/…

@DrewPavlou And when I say "the same" I don't just mean American. People are into K-pop and anime at least as much as in North America.

One of the things I love about the World Cup is that it is one of the last remaining avenues of shared culture I had to do the dishes so I missed Argentina’s first goal against Switzerland. But I found out they scored because I heard my neighbours celebrating through the open window. When I was in Austin Texas the other week I had to go for a walk from my hotel to reach Joe Rogan’s comedy club so I missed the end of the US - Bosnia game. I found out the US won because everyone started yelling and honking, you could hear it everywhere

@DrewPavlou Maybe in terms of politics, but not in terms of culture. I spend a lot of time in Latin America and 95% of the movies are the same, the popular Netflix shows are almost all the same, there is overlap in music, but less than in TV and movies.

@ElectionDigest I have no idea what you are talking about. The times when people are on social media don't correlate to the traditional news cycle.

@JimRossStrategy Everything Bradford posts get inundated with negative comments, but he has an obligation to his backers to announce these planks to his platform. So he's doing it on Fridays to minimize the blowback.

Governments often announce bad news on Fridays because people aren't paying close attention and by the time the weekend is over they hope folks will forget about it. Bradford announces the planks of his platform on Fridays. Who is advising this guy?

The next time you see Graham Platner will be his announcement of dropping out. The next time after that will be his interview on Tucker about how AIPAC and the Epstein Class did this to him.

@stphnmaher I assume the King likes it that way. Its an absolute monarchy, the King and security services loot the national budget. Dissent isn't really tolerated. There was a democracy movement a few years ago but it didn't pan out.

Today I learned that since 2018 Swaziland has been called Eswatini. I am sure nobody brought that to my attention, which seems like an oversight. It made me reflect on how little news we get from that place.

@JimRossStrategy It's not surprising since Tim Houston has pissed off all but the staunchest PC voters. This is what happens when you get a super majority and do stupid things like a historic projected deficit of 1.24 billion and tell us the devastating cuts will continue for several years. 😡

@pegobry_en I think this means German like "Germanic", ie including the Franks, and I think it refers to a period before there was much of an idea of France or Germany.

This book is total bs The Bible has plenty of martial content, to put it mildly One of the "outcast" minorities Jesus was friendly with was Roman soldiers and he exhorts them to do their duty not become hippies Christians in the Roman Empire from the first presented themselves as patriots, they joined and served in the military, never opposed military expansion, etc There’s no "mystery" to "explain" And finally Medieval culture especially around knighthood, war, etc was shaped by France not Germany. The Crusades were basically a French project.
🌲TheFertilePeasant🌲@Pellegrinoadict

Actually theres a great book about that which directly answers the question; Hint; Theres a reason Christianity started out pacifist and "turn the other cheek" while its also "Deus Vult"
