My prediction: Over the next few months, we will see the population of the US completely lose trust in the courts, political system, and the press as they realize that what happened today makes very little difference.

In the UK, NGOs and campaign groups have power because locals cannot block or opt out of development at the local level, and cannot make deals with developers to opt into it either. Their only option is to add as much cost as possible to try and slow down and stop things.

There's a common view that the problem with development – roads, reservoirs, houses – is one of dispersed benefits vs concentrated costs. Locals lose out but incomers (and the nation) benefit.

Nuclear doesn’t need to be subsidized since it’s energy payback period is a couple weeks and provides base load power for decades

Anything which is a 'temporary' measure when it involves an anti-motorist, anti-movement policy is always likely to be made permanent, regardless of cost. Again, it's time they paid for the excessive space they have at the expense of our economy #Liverpool
