Just had a quick talk with Jacob Wells from @GiveSendGo about the Karmelo Anthony campaign. He explained the tightrope they're walking: if they pull that one, they'd have to pull Derek Chauvin's defense fund, the McMichaels (Arbery case), and others. Consistent policy across the board, even if it sucks in high profile murder cases. I get it, free speech and not playing judge on every campaign. But convicted murderers (or those clearly profiting off the crime) shouldn't get to cash in while victims' families scrape by. That money raised in these cases should be fair game for civil suits by the victims' families. Let the courts redirect it to restitution where it belongs. No more killers or their supporters turning tragedy into a payday.
