Homelessness isn’t one problem, and it won’t be solved with one tool. Utah is taking a clear, statewide approach focused on what works and what changes outcomes. Three pillars guide the work: accountability for high-utilizers, emergency shelter and supportive housing, and expanded mental and behavioral health capacity.

What we’re seeing in Utah is a normalization of job growth after several years of rapid expansion. The overall economic conditions continue to reflect this normalization rather than an economic disruption. The low unemployment rate shows the state’s labor market remains strong.

The December jobs report shows Utah's labor force ended the year with an additional 21,800 jobs, a 1.2% increase. The unemployment rate remained steady at 3.6%. As usual, these numbers are better than the nation, which reported only 0.3% job growth and 4.4% unemployment.
